Indian Tour of Sri Lanka & Triangular Series, July-August 2010

Horrible performance. Shows that without Sachin, we are very poor. If this is how we are going to play, then lets bury our dreams of winning the World Cup next year and now itself start focusing on 2015. With the advent of T20 (and its slam bang mode), we will see more of such spineless performances because our players are rapidly losing patience which needs to be there in challenging circumstances like these. Hitting your way out of trouble will always not work. It can worsen your situation too.

Good that we lost the No.2 rank. With this bowling attack and fielding (now batting too), we dont deserve that tag. We will soon lose our No.1 rank in tests too. Well, Dhoni's times of downward swing is on... Just hope it doesnt last too long.

Yep that's right give up your World Cup dreams based on one game :facepalm I see your greater point, but the reality is that EVERY team has problems coming into this World Cup. Even Australia who are clearly #1 ranked at present have a LOT of questions over their team.

England or South Africa's time to shine in my books, but I bet India still get to the semis

Just saw the highlights, Williamson did get a jaffa, the perfect outswinger. Can't judge anything by that, would have gotten far better players out. Well bowled

I can't agree with that. The ball pitched on off-stump and hit off-stump. I have seen Kumar swing it way more than that.

Most quality batsmen would have played it with a straight bat, Williamson closed the face and tried to flick it.

Even if he played with a straight bat the line and length were perfect and there was movement. A hell of a ball to get on debut.

After seeing the delivery close to 100 times this morning on the news the ball definitely pitched on middle stump. When you factor in that it was Williamson's debut, that he'd already faced eight balls and hadn't got of the mark you could probably excuse him for trying to pick that one off through the onside though.

Performances like this give the encouragement to move forward..thats part of cricket and sports...if a team always wins then that team will be called perfect but no one is perfect.

Wow, just amazing. One match and you give up hopes for the WC, start focusing on 2015 WC, start whining over the tactics employed by the batsmen and so on. It was just that NZ were a far superior side than India on the given day. Don't at all go towards the rankings. They are momentary. And, surely Dhoni can't go and bat for every player. Without Sachin we have been performing well consistently from sometime now. I just can't imagine how you decide everything so quickly going by the performance in one match.

Well I would like to point out that these young guns need time. Obviously they have the potential. World cup isn't that far. Will they be able to peak in time?
Yesterday's performance was shabby. I hope it was a one off bad game. I think this series is good reality check for most of the batsmen to get their act together.

I really would like Sachin lifting the World Cup, but performance like these can be very discouraging at times. I have seen India lose, but its the way they lost that is very discouraging. They are lacking resilience at the moment!

Wow! Taylor and Styris individually scored more than our team combined.:facepalm

With this kind of bowling, you expect us to provide a tough fight in the WC. I am also one of the eternal optimists, but performances like these are so downing. And these kind of performances seem to increase (first in T20's where we were doing so well, now slowly in ODI's too). Basically it all boils down to the toss. If we win the toss, great. If we lose it, we are at a big disadvantage. And it will be quite similar in Indian conditions too where the WC will be staged.

With our bowling attack, I will be happy if we qualify for the semis. Anything after that is a bonus.
