Indian Tour of Sri Lanka & Triangular Series, July-August 2010

Wow, our bowlers have fired for the first time.

Our bowlers have been doing decently since the second day of the last test where we took 6 wickets for 100-odd runs. We had SL at 80/7 in the second innings before letting the tail wag. Even against NZ, we had them at 25/3 before letting it slip and now today we have them on the mat again.

At least we are getting starts with the ball and not getting hammered with the new ball. Yes, the conditions have a lot to do with it but we have`nt been that bad. I hope they get into better rhythm in conditions like these because there has been way too much cricket played on some dead tracks which could dent a bowler`s confidence badly.

I must admit that I have been surprised by the way Nehra has bowled in the last couple of series. I hope he can carry on bowling like he is now, till the World cup. Also praying for Zaheer to get back to full fitness and last till the World Cup. These two along with Praveen, Ishant and Munaf/Sree would most probably fill the fast bowlers slots in the final 15 for the WC. Irfan might get a look in instead of Jadeja depending upon how RJ fares in the next few games. We only have 8 ODIs before the squad gets picked for the WC, not counting the SA ODI series. I don`t think that the SA series would influence WC team selection a lot because of different conditions. We toured NZ before the 2003 WC and the batting failed miserably that time but the WC lineup remained almost the same.

This is where a fourth seamer would come in handy. Although Jadeja got a wicket in his first over itself, bowling spin from both ends at this stage would make it easier for the tailenders and is almost a soft option rather than just going for the kill here. We should`nt be allowing the tail to just bat on which is easier to do for a tailender against moderate quality spin.

Yea, just like in the NZ game, India brought in two spinners into the attack which let Taylor and Styris settle down and get that massive partnership. I do admit that the situation is different with SL being 6 down, but it takes a bit of the pressure off and makes runs just that little easier to come by.

India to win this with a bonus point.

Would`nt that be great, especially without Sachin,Gambhir,Zaheer,Yuvraj and Harbhajan all out of the side. I don`t think it`ll be easy chasing 150+ here with our brittle batting though,

Good stuff from the bowlers. Ishant is back... I knew it was only a matter of time. He's definitely better than Mithun or any other backup bowler we might have (Sreesanth is ████ in ODI's).

Ideally we should win with a bonus point. But it's gonna be tough with the kind of bowling line up SL have and our batting looking rather frail.

WTF was that Mr. Rauf. As much as i would like to join the rohit-sharma-is-crap-group , the decision was utter crap..:facepalm....

Gotta feel for Rohit.. Its either he plays crap shots or umpires gives crap decisions:p...

Either way... Won't be long before Saurabh Tiwary gets a go...

AngryPixel added 1 Minutes and 34 Seconds later...

Just a small fact for Kane Williamson. Raina also got out for a duck in his debut match. I remember it was murali's dussera and he completely missed it. India persisted with him and see waht he good player he is now:yes
