Hello and welcome to the batting highlights, everything at the beginning of the day went to both sides with Gautam Gambhir playing patiently and superbly and Tendulkar was expected to score runs but when he went down the track to Giles he found himself stumped:
Then in came Laxman, he started very attractively playing this beautiful straight drive!
Laxman found England's best spinner, Giles, a bit too easy to play!!
He later regreted his actions when he advanced down the wicket and edged a ball from Giles to slips:
In came the out-of-form Ganguly but he proved he can play a good shot even when he is not playing well!
Gambhir played a fine 50 to help his team get out of trouble
Gambhir didn't stop there, he continued to play a selection of very good shots:
Simon ceased Gambhir's opportunity to score a 2nd test 100 by trapping him LBW:
A standing ovation for Gambhir for his excellent innings:
Ganguly proved to the selectors that he still has the batting potiental by scoring a quickfire 50
Ganguly attacked the bowlers more after his fifty:
An important bowling change from Vaughan to bring on Hoggard paid off as Hoggard removed Ganguly by a lovely yorker!
Relieved that he got back into his natural batting but he walks off with none less than a smile!!
Here's is the scorecard:
So after Ganguly got out, England found it very easy to wrap up the rest of the Indians which until now leaves the test evenly balanced!
Join us later for England's 2nd innings...........bye!
