India's Tour Of Sri Lanka- August 2015

Lead 400+ now just declare. Give it perhaps upto 3-5 more overs of senseless hitting but thats it. SL should be batting in 5 overs. Enough runs, the pitch is still okay, India need the overs to bowl out SL.

All this talk ok aggression is pure nonsense. When it comes down to actually showing intent, we behave meekly. What could possibly be the thought behind prolonging the innings without any intent. Are they scared of Sri Lanka chasing it down?. Ridiculous tactics. The Lankan batting would be living every minute they spend on the field. All this when its unlikely that we will get the full quota of overs in today or tomorrow.

Okay good declaration, could have come as soon as India crossed 400 run lead, but okay one or two overs delay was okay. The important thing is India have given themselves enough overs.

This innings could suddenly turn out to be a pivotal one for India's future. If Rahul can show himself to be a capable keeper, then India would have just hit the jackpot. A batsman who can bat at the top of the order and who has two test hundreds, both overseas, is worth his weight in gold. With Rahul as the keeper, India can then play 5 bowlers to their full content.

Ofcourse the downside is Rahul drops a few catches and India dont end up winning here.

Kohli's captaincy so far has been a little immature. He makes roo many changes without allowing even his bowlers time to settle into a rhythm. Yadav could've got a longer spell.

Thank you Sanga. Sri Lankan cricket will have a huge void to fill come the next test match. Already, a side without Mahela, Sanga and Dilshan looks half the side in terms of batting impact. Sanga, was the last of the great batsmen from the previous era.

Good start so far. Ashwin`s performances in Sri Lanka have been the better than any other Indian spinner ever. Remember, although Sri Lankan wickets are conducive to spin, they have hardly been fruitful for Indian spinners who have been ground to dust. If we can somehow get rid of Mattews tonight, we would be in with a chance of winning this one. I feel Yadav is our best bet against Mattews. He has troubled him in this test without reward.

Very good batting from Rahane and Vijay. Both these guys have become rock solid backbone for India's test batting in recent times.

Also well done Sangakkara on a glorious career! A well respected guy all over the cricketing world.

Did Vijay play through a niggle in this test? This means Karun has to open with Rahul in the next game (with Dhawan also ruled out).

I hrd Dhawan will be available for the final test.

Last news I read, Dhawan needed 6 weeks to recover from the injury he sustained during the first test (while taking that slip catch) and so he was ruled out of the rest of this SL tour.

Also didn't know Karun Nair was a middle order batsman. They could have gone for Mukund to replace Vijay. In this case, it makes sense to bring back Pujara into the team and have someone do makeshift opening duties. I would go for Naman Ojha (who should obviously replace Saha as keeper) and Ojha should open the batting with Rahul. Pujara comes in for Vijay and takes the No.3 spot, relieving Rahane of that duty.

Not sure, but I think one of the tea or lunch TV sessions I heard them discussing the line up for the third test after Dhawan returns, as Rahul couldnt be dropped after his ton, and Rahane couldnt be dropped so how will Rohit fit into the side, and Rahul could have to bat at 3. That was before Vijay got injured of course. The coversation sort of gave me the impression that Dhawan would return for the third test.

I think Dhawan is out for another month. With the SA series starting in a month or so, I don`t think the management is risking these guys. Secondly, the commentary team seems very poorly informed about the game. Yesterday, they kept discussing at length about how Rahane might have to keep wickets in the absence of Saha. They kept going on and on for 5 minutes before they realized that Rahul could keep wickets. For a series that has been exciting so far, the commentary has left a lot to desire.

Wicket first ball! As I said yesterday, Mattews has looked uncomfortable against Yadav in this match and was our best chance of getting him out. Now hoping for Yadav to steam in and get a couple more this morning. Guys like Ishit Sharma and Nohit will keep getting opportunities on the back of pointless 40s or a couple of tailend wickets but fledgling pacemen like Yadav or Aaron don`t have that cushion in this Indian setup.
