India's Tour Of Sri Lanka Jul-Aug 2012

Well to answer Untouchable's argument about Pujara being unable to score a century, that 96 was a not out innings on a tough pitch. We won with 2 wkts to spare. So thats equivalent to a century innings (if century is the criterion to judge the player). For me, Pujara produced consistent performances in West Indies during that series and produced some real good knocks (the best one was obviously that 96*).

Regarding Rohit vs Manoj, Manoj should have been playing from the last game itself. He is long overdue a good opportunity. Dhoni backed Rohit in Australia at the expense of one of the opening trio (the infamous rotation policy), and said he was backing a youngster. Well now, Manoj is also a youngster and its a competition between two youngsters. Rohit has been failing continuously and its time Manoj gets a shot. I would say Manoj is as excellent a fielder as Rohit (in fact far more safer hands than Rohit who has developed butter fingers recently). And if they give Manoj a chance, give him an extended chance (of atleast 10-15 ODI's). If Rohit and Raina deserve it, why not Manoj?

Gautam has come out in support of Rohit Sharma. If the team management is so hell bent upon his inclusion in the 2015 World Cup, then why are we even looking at a squad of 15 ? Just add a few bowlers here and there and keep the same batting line-up. Its demoralising for someone to have scored a century in his last ODI and to have been kept on the sidelines for more than 10 games.

Again, we try to ape the Aussie system. What we need to understand is the fact that the Aussies rely solely on performance and performance alone. They aint bothered about a Ricky Ponting being dropped. By contrast, Rohit[with no offence to him], isnt anywhere as good a player as Ricky. Thus, dropping him is for the greater good of Indian cricket.

Maybe they are just trying to keep Rohit in the positive frame of mind because you don't want him to wither away in between a series. If suddenly someone gets injured, Rohit could be called up and so you have to keep him in the best frame of mind.

Is Rahul cleared to play? Ojha apparently got hit on the neck and had to be rushed to a local hospital, hope it's nothing serious.

I am pretty sure we will have same 11 unless someone is injured. I would love to see Rohit getting at least a half century.

Is Rahul cleared to play?

First of all, how come Rahul is still playing cricket? :D He was telling in May that if he is proved positive in that drug test....he will stop playing cricket....:D

And recently, he was proved positive for drugs.... :rolleyes

2 changes for India, 2 changes I didn't see coming; Yadav out, Dinda in and Ojha out, Rahul in.

Come on Rohit.....:cheers Slam a big century today....a match winning innings and silence your critics...:p

india is on fire 3 quick wickets for him dilshan was unlucky there to loose his wicket in that fashion :D

Up to the spinners now - Zaheer and Pathan did well up front. Now Mahela and Sanga could undo that good work if India aren't careful.

Sri Lanka can still win here, any score around 230 may be challenging for the Indians.

India's death end bowling was not good, especially Dinda. 97 runs from the last 10 overs

----------

Sri Lanka can still win here, any score around 230 may be challenging for the Indians.

They have gone a lot better with 286, thanks to Matthews and Mendis for a strong finish
