India A v West Indies A - 4th Unofficial One Day International `1991/2 - Ahmedabad

Pitch: 4 - Normal

Weather: 7 - Sunny, some cloud about

Toss: West Indies A

West Indies A won the toss and batted first, a new pair of openers making no difference, Williams and Samuels both failing upon their returnm and Holder at 4 falling for a duck.
The selection of seamer Subroto Banerjee for his first game of the series in place of Chetan Sharma proved to be a good move, the bowler taking 3 wickets in his opening spell to leave West Indies A 25/3.
Dawnley Joseph contributed a few big hits in 46 to steady the innings, before Arthurton took over to make 85 from 101 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes.
With Drakes hitting out at the end, West Indies A totalled 225/9 from their 50 overs, their highest 50 over score of the tour.
Banerjee and Joshi both claimed 3 wickets, but the India A attack were generally too expensive in their worst collective performance of the series.
India A lost their openers cheaply in reply, and when Dravid fell after an entertaining 30 off 18 balls, the home team found themselves 44/3 and in deep trouble chasing for the 2nd game running.
Kambli and Ganguly put India A back on top with batting of the highest class, the pair adding 127 off 19.5 overs to leave India requiring just 55 of the final 25.1 overs.
Man of the Match Ganguly cruised to an unbeaten 90* off 82 balls without ever having to reach top gear, his best batting of an injury disrupted series to take his team to the win.
Bangar batted well at the other end, and India A cruised home to win by 6 wickets with a massive 14 overs to spare.
Scoring at over 6 runs per over throughout their innings, India A in form like this could have chased down 300, such was their batting dominance.
Though West Indies A were missing pace leader Gray through injury, the other bowlers were wayward in another ill discliplined performance and West Indies A again shelled chances in the field.
India A take a 4-0 lead in the series, with one match to play before the First Class matches resume, the West Indies A side are hoping to at least avoid a whitewash in the final match.

India A won by 6 wickets

Man of the Match: S.C.Ganguly

West Indies A 225/9 (50 overs)
(D.R.E.Joseph 46, K.L.T.Arthurton 85, S.Chanderpaul 31, V.C.Drakes 28; S.T.Banerjee 3-44, S.B.Joshi 3-48)

India A 226/4 (36 overs)

Score update:

ACB Chairman's XI v Pakistan A - 50 over List A match 1991/2 - Perth

Pakistan A 84/2 (17 overs)
(Shahid Saeed 28, Zahoor Elahi 37)

A quick start by the openers, both successful ODI players for Pakistan in future seasons, put the visitors on top despite losing both after good starts.
Taking advantage of a Fast Paced Wicket with a fast outfield, the visitors took advantage of some loose new ball by Angel in particular.

ACB Chairman's XI v Pakistan A - 50 over List A match 1991/2 - Perth

Pakistan A 133/4 (31 overs)
(Shahid Saeed 28, Zahoor Elahi 37, Rizwan-uz-Zaman 32, Asif Mujtaba 22*, Nadeem Abbasi 7*; S.C.G.MacGill 2-21)

A couple of wickets to young legspinner Stuart MacGill slowed the visitors down in the middle overs.
With Asif continuing his good start to the tour, and big hitter Manzoor Elahi and allrounder Naved Anjum to come, the Pakistani A side should make 200+ from here.

ACB Chairman's XI v Pakistan A - 50 over List A match 1991/2 - WACA Ground, Perth

Pitch: 7A - Fast paced wicket - favours Fast bowlers, increases batsmen's scoring rate

Weather: 3 - Sunny, some cloud about

Toss: Pakistan A

Pakistan A won the toss, and with conditions likely to provide quick scoring, elected to bat first.
The openers got them off to a good start, bet when both fell after entertaining cameos the rest struggled.
Darren Lehmann took 4-18 in the later overs to wreck the innings, and when Pakistan A's allrounders Manzoor Elahi and Naved Anjum fell for ducks, they could only scrape together 178/9 off their 50 overs.
The ACB Chairman's XI openers fell cheaply again, but young Western Australian batsmen Justin Langer and Damien Martyn won their team the match with an unbroken 146* run stand off 24.4 overs of classy strokeplay.
Revelling in his home conditions, Langer finished not out on 92* off 78 balls with 16 fours to suggest he is not just a possible Test player in the making but maybe a future ODI player as well.
Naved Anjum was again the best of the Pakistan A bowlers, but all of them struggled to contain the runs in another disappointing performance.

ACB Chairman's XI won by 8 wickets

Man of the Match: J.L.Langer

Pakistan A 178/9 (50 overs)
(Shahid Saeed 28, Zahoor Elahi 37, Rizwan-uz-Zaman 31, Asif Mujtaba 25, Nadeem Abbasi 21; S.C.G.MacGill 2-31, D.S.Lehmann 4-18)

ACB Chairman's XI 179/2 (30.5 overs)
(J.L.Langer 92*, D.R.Martyn 70*; Naved Anjum 2-44)\

India A v West Indies A - 5th Unofficial ODI - Bombay

West Indies A 101/3 (36 overs)
(S.Ragoonath 31, R.G.Samuels 33, D.R.E.Joseph 22)

West Indies A top order seemed to be auditioning for the 4 day Unofficial Tests to follow, showing little interest in maintaining a decent run rate in the early overs.
A varied Indian attack kept the pressure on, with captain Ganguly spoiled for options with this lineup.
A total of 160 might provide a close game in this one, as the pitch is Uneven, and this can sometimes make ordinary bowlers deadly.

India A v West Indies A - 5th Unofficial ODI - Bombay

West Indies A 163/9 (50 overs)
(S.Ragoonath 31, R.G.Samuels 33, D.R.E.Joseph 22, K.L.T.Arthurton 32; S.C.Ganguly 3-22, N.D.Hirwani 3-26, W.V.Raman 2-27)

West Indies A struggled after being sent in on an Uneven wicket, Ganguly and Hirwani running through the lower order for the home side.
Not a bad total considering the pitch conditions, more competitive than it may first appear with the West Indies fielding a strong pace attack for this one.
Full scorecards and reports to follow on the blog in about 40 minutes.

India A v West Indies A - 5th Unofficial One Day International 1991/2 - Bombay

Pitch: 7 - Uneven - significant help for all bowlers

Weather: 4 - Hot and sunny

Toss: India A

India A won the toss and sent West Indies A in for the final the match of the series on an Uneven wicket.
With 8 bowling options in their side, and scores expected to be low due to the pitch conditions, the home team were keen to give their bowlers first use of the wicket.
Despite an opening stand of 50 between the recalled S.Ragoonath, and the in form Samuels, West Indies A stuggled thereafter to make only 163/9 off their 50 overs.
S.C.Ganguly with medium pace, and legspinner Narendra Hirwani took 3 wickets apiece as they ran through the lower order to leave India A on top at the break.
Though only a mediocre total, 163 looked defendable on this Uneven pitch for a 4 pronged West Indies A pace attack.
After a couple of early wickets West Indies A appeared in the game, but well paced innings from the in form middle order of Dravid, Kambli, and Ganguly carried India A to an eventual easy 6 wicket win, with 11 overs to spare, to claim a 5-0 series whitewash.
Gray and Rose again tried hard for West Indies A, but they were ultimately outclassed by a talented India A batting lineup accustomed to home conditions.
Man of the Match and also Man of the Series was India A captain Saurav Ganguly, his allround efforts and leadership throughout the series marking him as a special talent for the future.

India A won by 6 wickets

India A win series 5-0

Zimbabwe Board XI v England A - 3 day First Class match - Bulawayo

Zimbabwe Board XI 77/1 (28 overs)
(K.J.Arnott 29, A.H.Shah 46*; M.Watkinson 1-1)

Zimbabwe Board XI won the toss and elected to bat first on a Normal pitch, expecting it to begin to help the spinners on Day 3.
Openers Arnott and Shah put on 73 for the 1st wicket before the Standing Up skills by England A keeper S.J.Rhodes make a very difficult stumping look easy.
Offspinner M.Watkinson with the wicket, ZImbabwe Board XI 77/1 at Lunch on Day 1.

Score update:

ACB Chairman's XI v Pakistan A - T20 match 1991/2 - WACA Ground, Perth

Pakistan A 106/9 (20 overs)
(Rizwan-uz-Zaman 33; B.P.Julian 2-20, G.B.Hogg 2-11, D.S.Lehmann 4-17)

After Julian struck twice in his opening spell, only Rizwan-uz-Zaman in a bright 33 off 22 could break the home spinner's hold on a Very Slow pitch.
Making only 106/9 off their 20 overs, Pakistan A seemed headed for their 3rd straight loss of the tour.
Lehmann grabbed 4 wickets for the 2nd match running, while Hogg showed his T20 skills with 2-11 off 4 miserly overs.

More short score updates of the above matches will follow over the next few hours, but due to number of matches played, next match reports and full scorecards won't be up on the blog til midway through tomorrow.

Stats and averages from the West Indies A limited overs leg of their tour of India up on the blog:

Best player for West Indies A in India so far has probably been Keith Arthurton, been batting and bowling well, worth looking at next time you pick a Test or ODI squad.
