IPL Fixing.

This is tough to call anything before the strong evidence against Dhoni and Raina. No matter Z has evidence, but the bookies must be liar. The big thing is that the news channels and new papers are playing around with the fixing issue. In local new paper in Maharashtra, I read 'A guy who was part of 15 player's world champions team and who is still present in team is involved in all this blah blah'. Just unbelievable. I don't see any of Ashwin, Dhoni, Raina or Kohli can do this. The fact is that the most of players in common are from CSK so players like Dhoni, Raina are badly pulled into all this.:(

Do you know them personally? Or is this wishful thinking? Separate your emotions from evidence.

Yup, we cant predict their attitude. Cricket has been gone into a "Money Matters game".

There has been no evidence yet presented to allege that any of the players are involved. Its all just random guys speaking to make a headline splash.

Its almost impossible to imagine people like Dhoni and even Raina (being big shot international players) putting their leg into such dirty mud.

I thought one of the bookies named Dhoni. That and the RR and CSK game result where there was prior knowledge that CSK would score between 135 - 140, and the only reason they scored 141 was because of a leading edge that went for four in the final over of their innings. Jadeja didn't accelerate, Dhoni and Raina both got out early.

Not that it's hard evidence, but interesting nonetheless. Big shot international players have previously been involved in match fixing, just ask Hansie Cronje or Mohd Azharuddin. And it is a rule of sport that whenever there's betting involved, especially by multi-millionaires, there is going to be a level of fixing.

That being said, I'd personally be very surprised if Dhoni or Raina were involved. However, their entire personality might be very different from my limited impression of them.

Well can't start blaming Dhoni and Raina with no real proof as per now.I feel that the media just overreact when they get a chance to say something against popular celebrities.I see no point for a player like Dhoni to involve in bidding for small amounts(comparatively) when he could get more by winning games.I think we should wait for more follow throughs on the topic, and I think media should try keep quiet till that.

I dont think its logical for any of the bigshot players to get involved in fixing for petty money, cause they earn way more through winning and their brand through winning.

The only situation were i can think these players getting involved is if all the Cricket boards are involved in this and turn cricket game to Cricketainment. The only factor that could contribute to this highly hypothetical theory could be home teams winning the series everywhere, but even this if analysed logically will show that right now No team is king outside their comfort zone.

So i believe right now the game is clean atleast among the top guns.

Gurunath Meiyappan ruling a damning verdict of IPL cricket | The National

Osman Samiuddin said:
Starting this summer, cricket will be run by a man whose Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise is bang in the middle of a corruption storm. Let that sink in.

Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of cricket?s arriving overlord, N Srinivasan, was found guilty of betting on the IPL and proven to be an official of the Chennai Super Kings after attempts were made to distance him from the team. Those were the findings of a voluminous report put together by a court-appointed committee led by Justice Mukul Mudgal.

Srinivasan has tried to play down Meiyappan?s actual role in the franchise, but Justice Mudgal was in no doubt. That finding, after the scandal last season in which five players were charged for spot-fixing, plunges the league into further disrepute.

As preparations for its seventh season get into gear, it has rarely been free of controversy and taints. Now its top side is under suspicion, a team led by the India captain, who, the report revealed, tried to fudge Meiyappan?s role in the franchise.

If cricket?s future is indeed headed toward domestic Twenty20 leagues, the IPL will lead the way. How scary is it that the league and its top side is gathering this kind of attention?

The report highlights the lack of oversight by the BCCI?s anti-corruption unit, as well as that of the ICC. Nothing, though, is as damning of the flaky nature of the league as the admissions by IPL CEO Sunder Raman that no effort had been made to determine the ultimate owners of franchises.

Everyone involved in match fixing at any level of the game should be banned for life; and all officials and team owners who condone it should be cast out of the game as well. We don't need people who are willing to chuck games involved with cricket at any level, and only genuinely harsh sanctions will stop this plague...

Its part of the reason why I don't respect the IPL tbh - as soon as a league has the baggage of the IPL has right now, then I lose any wants to watch the game because I have doubts as to whether I'm watching a proper game or not...

That might be a smart thing to do. It will instill some faith that these guys are serious about cleansing the system.

But seriously doubt this will happen. I am sure all the groundwork has been laid out for IPL in UAE and in India, and too much money riding on it

I agree with the IPL suspension thing. Suspend it for god's sake and clean it up. Also with the Indian elections happening this year, why waste time by moving the IPL out to other countries, etc? And they have moved it to UAE, which has closer proximity to Sharjah, the hot bed of match fixing. One hot bed is merging into another?:rolleyes
