Is Andrew Flintoff a one series wonder?

You didn't see the fuss many ex-players were making about Pietersen then, did you? Cricket is still very old fashioned in its attitude to many things.

are u talking about ex-english players???

they need sumthing to fuss about dont they??

who cares about KP being an african - his reasons for playing in england are fine with me - you just have to ask any south african in australia why they moved to australia - their government is screwed, and the influence they have on their various national sporting team selection policies sux. i know if he moved to australia i'd find him citizenship pronto and get him in the nets.

the fact that he's so good is what makes it hard to swallow. it does seem, on the face of it, that it took a couple of internationals (strauss & peiterson) to make your cricket team half good. while not completely true, it's still a good excuse for us as to why england has improve :) symmo is a different story because he's spent near his entire life in australia, and has an entirely australian accent.

it doesn't matter anyway - we're back at home and playing well. bring on the next ashes - 5-0!!

i would just really like to think of what the south african side would be like if kp and strauss were playing alongside smith, pollock, kallis, ntini boucher etc etc. that would help in making world cricket stronger. rather than have 2 very strong nations we might even have 3

But Strauss is more English than he is South African for gods sake!

English parents, but born in RSA.

for example say you and your partner were expecting and were on holiday back from South America but stopped in new Zealand and she gave birth there, would you call your son a Kiwi?

Does Andy Symonds have any Australian in him?

Born in Birmingham and his parents are West Indian aren't they?
But wasn't Symonds brought up in Australia as an Australian?
So yeah, he's an Aussie true and through, no doubting he sure acts
and drinks like one of us and is one of the most popular players in Oz.
KP wasn't brought up in England as an Englishman, but anyway,
my point is it's sad England can't find talent like that in its own reserves,
you've got plenty of good bowlers but good batsmen seem to be at a low.

Back on topic, well kinda...

Flintoff's One Day World XI showing was, well to put it realistically...pathetic,
I'm sure Flintoff would say similar. Nobody thought that after the Ashes he'd
perform this badly. He only got 1 wicket in three matches and has been given
a right-royal flogging from the get-go in the series by all batsmen that faced him.
Shane Watson made him look like a school boy with bat, ball & fielding, the real
insult is that Watson's not even a regular in the Australian side.

This was supposed to be a series Flintoff would never forget,
he's just not going to forget it for all the wrong reasons.
It'll probably go down as his worst ever international series.

I like and enjoy watching Flintoff, he's a great player, and he's not
a one series wonder, he's performed well for a long time,
so don't get me wrong when I say, he simply can't bowl Down Under,
that can be argued, but the facts and stats say it all, shame really
as I was hoping for a good contest, but all I witnessed was a flogging.

Signing out, a disappointed Flintoff fan...
Andrew.

I'm sure you would disagree but to Flintoff and co these matches were nothing more than glorified exhibitions.

Flintoff can bowl anywhere, in these "international matches" his line and length were all over the place that's why he was expensive. His bowling was also lacking his usual aggresion and venom i wonder why. I know these games are very very important to you australians but outside australia they're not.

I think they should be of utmost importance to the South Africans, as a number of their players get a preview warm up for the tour later this summer and subsequent series in RSA. Smith's game in the supertest will be very interesting and he will be hungry for a win, because if he can't pull it with the World XI, the Aussies will be most confident against him in his regular team.

KP chose to play for England because of South Africas policy on cricket (introducing an all black team by 2015 iirc).

Many south Africans have played for Australia.

You're just all jealous.

Just one actually: Kepler Wessells.
