Is Ganguly right in his outburst about his captaincy?

Sachin dropped the captaincy, didn't he? Ganguly hasn't even been that successful a leader since the world cup. We have failed to win a one-day series and we have drawn one and lost one home series. If he steps down from captaincy, he may still be retained on the team, based on form. If Yuvraj/Kaif falter, Ganguly can always be brought back. Let's see how it goes, though. Chappell has managed to diffuse some tension, it seems.

Chappell has made the statement clear that if the players doesnt deliver consistently then they would be dropped at any cost no matter who they are.Same applies to the fitnees.IF some player doesnt maintian the required fitness in every match then he would be sacked after considering his performances.

Chappell has let it be known that the captain is only as good as how he performs. In the past, coaches have been so polite to the captains that they think that captaincy in itself guarantees them a place in the team! It should not be the case.

Ganguly getting out of the team will in itself make some of the players in the team to perform well! Nehra's performance under Dravid in the Sri Lanka series was marvellous. But the same Nehra looked clueless under Saurav's captaincy in the Videocon Cup tri series against New Zealand-Zimbabwe!

I am already starting to hear a chorus of people wanting Sachin back! Its surely going to help the team a lot with Sachin back.

  • Sachin occupies more space in the media and the Ganguly-Chappell row will be pushed aside to accomodate news about Sachin
  • It seems Saurav and Chappell respect Sachin a lot and listen seriously to him and also indulge him in team discussions. So he would act as an ailment between Chappell and Ganguly
  • With Sachin batting at the other end, the Indian batsmen tend to inspire themselves and this has been acknowledged by Sehwag also!
  • Also with an experienced guy like Sachin in the team, you have some one to go up to and take advice. Not only advice but it helps the youngsters confidence a lot!

I am sure everyone wants Sachin back to clear all this drama going on! Please Sachin, come back for the betterment of Indian cricket!

Hehe, that is dependent on his injury. And to add a final, sarcastic bullet point, if Sachin arrives and has a few failures, people will start whining about Ganguly again.

Rahul Dravid should be captain. He has the respect of the cricket world and does a very good job when he's skipper.

And it doesn't seem like he will start arguments and such. With Ganguly, this was a natural way of speaking... for better or for worse.

IMO Rahul Dravid wud make a terrible captain...ganguly still is the best choice but if he IS to be chnged,i think sehwag wud be a better choice ;)
always give the job to the most aggressive player in the team..

Good to hear things have got back to normal.
India has some fantastic players and I think Chappell can bring out
the best of their talents. Behind Australia, India has always been my
favourite, even more so now with Chappell's appointment as Coach.

Happy cricketing...
Andrew G.
