New Zealand Domestic Season

Sucks the game's ended like this. Wellington win by D/L. No way they'll get back out there with that rain.

Fleming showed why he's reguarded as one of the best cricket captains of all time. Made a win out of a low total with great field placings, bowling changes and slowed the game down toward the end. Put pressure on Sinclair and he got himself out.

Yea, Fleming is going to give Wellington a chance this year. Normally a very average limited overs team in recent years. Class stuff and great to see him back out there.

Great innings from Nathan McCullum and Mascerahnes. McCullum a possible contender for the new zealand squad perhaps?

I like the idea of him more then Diamanti. I like Patel though, but if McCullum can bowl to a similar standard and have his batting as a bonus it would be nice.

I also agree that Nathan McCullum is probably a better option than Diamanti, though I still think Ewen Thompson, James Franklin and Luke Woodcock should be ahead of both when it comes to the all-rounder or a bowling posistion.

Wow, that Vivian guy is interesting. Twenty/20 specialist perhaps? He's one hell of a hitter. He's not just a slogger either, he turns strike over and can play the ball over the covers and mid off. 5kg bat!!!!!

Styris looked in good nick and Shane Bond was brilliant, really miss him, he's as good and quick as ever.

The Auckland, Canterbury game was good watching. Crowe, Doully and Richardson always make me laugh. Enjoying this domestic twenty/20.

Did anyone else thoroughly enjoy watching Auckland make a mess of their T20 chances? I sure did.

Going to have to say Otago for the final they have been a class side for the whole thing even without their Blackcaps.

It also seems likely that the six Indian test specialists are each going to play 1 round in the state shield. Heres hoping Dravid or Laxman ends up with Wellington :D

Some real good performances this week, especially from the bowlers.

Brendon Diamanti & Luke Woodcock have put in exceptional all-round performances, Diamanti got an unbeaten hundred and a 5 wicket haul, while Woodcock got a fair few runs and wickets. Both players will surely have to be in consideration for the test squad.

It's great to see Greg Hay return to form with the bat, by scoring a hundred today.

Mitchell McClenaghan, came up with a brilliant spell near the end of the match by getting 3/5. He's a real promising prospect and is one of the fastest bowlers in the comp.

Besides Dravid, the Indian contingent was quite poor, though the hit out will do nothing but help the players adjust to the conditions.

Has been a good few days of cricket. The time Diamanti had in the NZ team probably did his confidence some good and it is great to see Hay get some runs. Been some good and not so good performances in the NZ A vs England Lions game as well. Franklin starting to find some form with the ball which is great (I will continue to moan until he gets a decent run in the NZ side). How got an unbeaten 190 but outside of that he has not done anything since being dropped should be interesting to see if he is selected for the tests again, I hope not.

I think How will at least get the 1st Test against India. It's hard to deny that he has the potential to be a great opener for us, also I like a lot of people think that if he gets his first ton, 2 and 3 will come quickly and he will start to establish himself as a force in International cricket.

Though saying that, NZ A still have a full day ahead of them to bat. With Redmond at the crease tomorrow, he could potentially get 150 and put himself back in with a chance for selection. You've also got Guptill in the ODI's and also the other openers from domestic cricket like Bell, Haig, Ingram & Papps.

I guess it will come down to the next round of the domestics.

Why not gupill's opener, he is awsome hit batting and good average FC.

Selectors should of stayed with Southee for the test series hes bowling well for ND today while Arnel is looking average. I must say our selectors haven't done a terrible job over the last couple of years but in the last 3 months there have been some strange choices made.

Amazing innings by Jeet Raval, he looks the goods and it's great to see that another of the young guys is stepping up. I still can't believe Steven Croft was keeping him out of the side, and I wonder why they even bought him over in the first place.

I'm really glad to see Colin De Grandhomme has finally found that consistency with the bat, he's always been a handy medium pacer, but he hasn't really played to his potential with the bat in the domestic comp yet. But now after getting his second century in a row, and the way he has completely dominated the bowling attacks. If he can improve his limited overs game, I think he'll be playing international cricket within the next two to three years.

Kane Williamson has put in another brilliant performance with the bat, he has to be in the squad for the T20 World Cup, this kid has to get some experience in the international arena this year, and T20 would be a good opportunity to get experience some experience against quality opponents.
