New Zealand Domestic Season

I was pretty surprised that he wasnt picked up originally, but good to see Flem still looking after the NZ guys. I mean how else would Styris have got a contract?? :D

Good to see Southee getting picked up.

The whole auction was a bit of a joke with the prices payed for certain players, and the prices not payed for others.

Steve Rixon is Chennai's fielding coach so he probably would have had a hand in it.

Who the heck is this Henry kid from Canterbury?? Absolutely ripping everyone to shreds.

He's done really well recently, rather unfortunately for ND :(

Good day for the de Boorder brothers though, both with centuries. Andrew went to school with me :D

I'm guessing McLean Park and Nelson Park have the same groundsmen, because they're right across the road, and the Aces have actually scored some runs in FC cricket.

 Five wickets in one over for Neil Wagner.

Wellington were 136-4 one over before lunch before Wanger absolutely ripped through the batting lineup. The over went W,W,W,W,.,W with four of the five wickets being bowled. Crazy.

So he took six wickets in the first innings, and then he got relegated to fifth change for the second innings, a very interesting tactic there...

I think part of it may have been fatigue due to them following on

----------

Wellington and Canterbury are both on 35 points at the moment, and the same number of wins, but Wellington have the worse net runs per wicket. If central win their huge run chase, they will also be on 35 points, but with an extra win which would put them top. If ND win their match, they hey too will be on 35 points and that extra win, but their net runs per wicket will most likely be lower than Centrals. If ND lose, then Canterbury win the competition.

So many combinations of results possible!

No matter what happens Auckland will be last. Gosh, why are they so useless at FC. Last season they finished second to last, this season it'll be bottom.

I believe it's the first time anyone's taken 5 wickets in an over

Cricinfo says it's a record for someone playing in New Zealand. I'm pretty sure no one else has taken 5 or even 6 wickets in an over.

Plunket Shield 2010-11, 10th round: Neil Wagner routs Wellington | Plunket Shield 2010-11, 10th round Report | Cricket News | ESPN Cricinfo

Wagner's performance eclipsed the previous best performance in an over by a bowler in New Zealand which was in 1929-30 when Englishman Maurice Allom took four wickets in five balls against New Zealand at Lancaster Park in Christchurch.

Whoever inherits this Wellington team will certainly have there work cut out for them that's for sure. They've been a poor team in every single competition during the last couple of years, they're not producing internationals at anywhere near the same rate as other provinces are and there development teams have been just as bad in all age groups over the last few years also.

A cleanout is what most fans are wanting but I think the problems lie far deeper then just the current players, the whole system must be looked at IMO.
