I don't think so. They should have got 270-280 on this pitch. Unless England get some early wickets, I don't see this being a major problem for New Zealand.

This batting line up has got to start getting its act together. Too many soft dismissels in that innings. Might be time to give Mustard another go instead of Ambrose and move Wright back to 7 or drop him when Flintoff gets back.

Thats what we wanted. McCullum the dangerman gone. If we can get Taylor cheaply we can win this game. These first 10 overs are key for England. Take 2-35 and we're in the driving seat. 50-1 and New Zealand will win I think. This is why having Sidebottom in the team is so important. The angle makes him hard to attack, come on England !!

It's a defendable total, but it will take good bowling (so far so good) and good fielding.

It may suit his strokeplay, but he's not played today. Awful shot, exactly what England wanted him to do. Seems all you have to do to get Taylor out is strangle him and stop him scoring, then let him self-destruct. England on the front foot here, just need to keep going. Get a couple more quick wickets and we're in major business. New Zealand haven't made this many runs in an innings since Old Trafford, not going to be an easy chase for them.

That was exactly what we needed, poor drop in the circumstances, if Shah had taken that we'd have been in. Could be a costly mistake.

Just look at the stats.

Taylor has been playing Test Cricket for 6 Tests.

And is in a poor side and still averages 45.

In a year to 18 months time he will be one of the best in the world in ODI and Test.
