New Zealand in England

Bloody disgrace, that. We started the series with a thrashing, but, typical England, we couldn't maintain that level of performance. Also, we dropped three catches today! Three! You can't win matches with performances like that.

Exactly. It isn't like New Zealand are the msot sporting team either - stumping Murali when he walked down the wicket to congratulate Sangakkara (I think it was him).

Bingo.

Lets see NZ being the victims though, even though they've won.

Stop bowling Wright in the last over! Yes it worked once but it isn't always going to work.

Isn't always going to work ? He's bowled bloody well twice in a row. Forget the farcical fielding at the end of the game and the lack of backing up. Tim Ambrose is to blame for this loss. He dropped an inside edge from Gillespie off Swann in Swann's last over. He's useless with the bat and can't catch. Bring Mustard back in ffs.

We didn't deserve to win, batted poorly, didn't bowl particularly well and some of the fielding was woeful, especially dropping Styris 3 times. The dreadful unsporting behaviour just topped off the game. Well played Kyle Mills, man of the match for me once more. There were no other stand out players, Mills has guided his team to victory and he also bowled pretty well. I've massively under-rated him, he's a very talented cricketer, still hate his bowling action though, looks completely uncomfortable and unganely.

Vettori is a knob. Your team won the game, get over it you tit. I was thinking of the Murali run out by McCullum as soon as it happened.

First of all, I hope NZ don't act as if they're are saints and we are just pure evil. Second of all, that was exactly the right result. I'm pretty much a win at all costs person myself, but I would have called Elliott back in. I'm not happy with how Collingwood dealt with that to be honest. No way should we have even ran him out in the first place.

Great game of one day cricket that though. Stick international T20 up your bollocks; 50 over cricket's still alive and well.

Nah, that was just really stupid on Murali's part, he went back down the wicket before McCullum even had the ball.

I'm sorry but that's unfair. It's always the same thing with England fans; "Oh i'm cheesed off because we lost, let's blame the bloke who dropped a catch at the end".

If were gonna drop him for a dropepd catch then surely Shah and Broad should be dropped too then?

No, Ambrose dropped the key catch, the match winning catch. Ambrose has been dissapointing in the games he's played in ODi cricket. He's not suited to the number 7 role and he's not good enough to bat in the top 6, get him out of the team. Luke Wright would have done a much better job batting at 7 today, and someone like Mustard or Foster would have caught that fairly easy inside edge chance. I'm happy to let him play in test cricket, but get him out of the ODi team. We have split captaincy, so why can't we have split keepers.

I'd have reacted in exactly the same way to be honest. I'm really pleased that NZ managed to get themselves over the line and Vettori's reaction was completely justified.

The key catch was Shah dropping Styris on 0. He catched that then NZ have 69 less runs and we win. So let's drop Shah then.

I'm not singling you out, but I hate this English attitude of dropping someone as the backlash to a defeat. It was not Tim Ambrose's fault. Let's look at other factors such as Anderson's lack of penetration, Collingwood over bowling himself and also the fact that as soon as we had them 7 down and out of the game we switched off. Again!

I would drop Ambrose simply for his batting. It's not suited to ODIs. His keeping is fine.

Credit to Vettori, he has apologised and so did Colly.

Sorry, I think you've misunderstood, I'm not saying to drop him just because of the dropped catch, but that just confirmed my beliefs. I actually posted that comment earlier in the thread, before the dropped catch. The dropped catch just compounded the poor form that Ambrose has been showing throughout the series. He can't seem to hold a bat at the minute, he isn't suited to the number 7 role, and the fact that as a keeper he dropped a key catch also makes things worse. The catch wasn't my only reasoning for dropping him, far from it infact, just made things worse for him.

It's not really an issue simply because NZ won.

Yeah that's pretty much spot on.

But what is it with the Oval and cricket controversies eh? Imagine if it had happened to Pakistan.....good Lord. It doesn't bear thinking about.

Fair enough Dan, but I still disagree with the dropping of Ambrose. I'm not his biggest fan either, but we've been chopping and changing keepers for too long and dropping him right before the Tests against the Saffies would be awful for his confidence.
