New Zealand Tour of India, November 2010/11

What a chance for Franklin to make a statement!
The tail's fairly long with Mills as the #10.Hopefully he can show today that he deserves to be picked ahead of Elliott.

It seems as though nobody can win with you tbh. After the second ODI you called for Southee, Mills or Nathan McCullum to open if Brendon McCullum wasn't available to help get New Zealand of to a quick start. McCullum comes back and fails (which is going to happen on a pitch like this) and all of a sudden we get "What the hell was that, they shouldn't be playing those shots"

Live by the sword die by the sword.

You obviously haven't watched much cricket you haven't seen McCullum get out that way before. Same with Taylor. Of course I'm going to say what I said, because as I NZ cricket fan I just get pissed off when these guys get out the same way time and time again.

Remember I've also been calling for McCullum to move back down the order now for the last year or so, and that is backed up by the fact that this year he's averaging 20. So remember to pull me up if he moves down the order, and more than likely fails down there.

I don't think your giving Munaf Patel enough credit for his ball to get rid of Williamson in the second ODI either. Sometimes the bowler in one day cricket can actually get the batsmen out with good deliveries, that ball being excellent. It jagged back a good six or so inches and hit the top of off-stump, it doesn't get any better then that.

In the third test he was bowled by one that jagged backed, like you said in the second ODI it jagged back, and again now it jagged back. There's obviously something wrong if he's got out three times in four/five innings from good balls that have jagged back. I know they're good deliveries, but you should not be getting bowled when you're playing straight back down the ground, and not playing with much intent.

CG123 added 4 Minutes and 39 Seconds later...

It seems as though nobody can win with you tbh.

That's maybe because I follow a team that's about to go 14 games without winning,

I'm not a cheerleader who goes "keep on trying guys, you'll get there soon", I get stuck into professional cricketers who are getting wasted by an understrength Indian side.

Great captaincy by Gambhir, to not only have fielders at catching positions but also within 30 yards circle to avoid easy singles. So often we have seen whilst Dhoni is captaining, sides recover even after losing initial wickets just by milking spinners around for easy singles.

And with this series win hoping a 5 to 0 people will doubt Dhoni's captaincy?

Hope that does not happen

To be honest Dhoni's captaincy has lost a bit of zing. No one is asking for his replacement yet as he has been by far our most successful captain. But certainly he should trust and put more confidence in our bowlers.

I assume you're being sarcastic, so we'll just agree to disagree. :)

;)

It's just a comment like this
There's obviously something wrong if he's got out three times in four/five innings from good balls that have jagged back
doesn't make much sense coming from a New Zealand fan when we have a team full of players who seem content with throwing there wickets away. I'd much rather good balls getting players out then poor ones.

I said that comes down to a coaching thing, how much coaching has he been getting to deal with this weakness?
I wouldn't really be surprised if he's got none.

sorry, but dhoni has been one of the most defensive captains i have ever seen. even dravid was more aggressive during his regime.
never seen a captain who is so doubtful and shows such lack of trust on his bowlers.

not to mention hes been failing miserably with the bat for god knows how long.

we have won matches under him due to a) the players performing exceptionally well b) most of the matches hes captained have been in the sub-continent.

bear in mind hes yet to tour SAF, AUS, ENG, WIN etc as captain........

He toured Australia in the triseries we won.

Anyways people do not see the positive side and keep on seeing the negative

I bet he ll win the south Africa test seris

Dhoni has been out of form for quite some time now, plus he has been a lucky guy to get a dream XI to lead, even in the IPL. Indeed he is a good captain, but surely over-rated.

That would not happen. However, should we lose our first World Cup match, expect a lot of angry voices against him. Dhoni- he is lucky, I'd say. Most of the time, his fields tend to work.

In Gambhir, one would say that we have a future leader and Dhoni's successor. Of the current crop, India has tried Raina, who failed miserably and Gambhir has done well so far. After Dhoni, I think Gambhir will get the command with Virat as his deputy.

You are forgetting Sehwag

Sehwag himself has said million times that he wants Gambhir to be the captain of India as he is the future. That was also a reason why he decided to step down as Delhi Daredevils' captain and asked Gautam to lead the side.
