New Zealand Tour of India, November 2010/11

You say that after watching the best Sree has bowled in close to 4 years. Which Indian bowler won't 'get taken to the cleaners'?

I think he is almost a certainty in the squad at this point. A 3 pronged attack of Zaheer - Sree - Nehra looks tasty, with guys like Ishant and Praveen in backup.

Sree is exponentially more expensive than the others.

I'd have Sree in the world cup if he can bowl like this. He did well in last 2 matches, looked much more attacking than Nehra.

Praveen is better at powerplay bowling but he just can't bowl at death, but Sree can. I'm still not certain whether it will be the right decision or not, but Except Zak I'm not gonna trust any bowler from India.

Also Zak didn't have even a decent year in ODI's, he averaged near 40 and a high ER, but still he is our best prospective as a pacer.

And Well played India yesterday, though I think time for Murali to do something in ODI's else busted.

So team announced for 3 4 5 odi and zaheer Khan is back giving sreesanth rest for south africa series

Also raina rested and surprise surprise parthiv patel is back ib squad for saha

Must be because he held a Diwali party for the Indian team at his house...

Why is Zaheer back for this meaningless 3 ODI games? Why arent they keeping him fresh for SA? What if he plays here, gets some kind of injury and is rendered unfit for the SA tests? They could have played Ishant here and kept Zaheer fit for SA. He doesnt need warmup in ODI's to get his rhythm for the tests going. He can leave for SA early with the others and warm up there. Now with him being picked for these 3 ODI's, he will reach SA only on Dec 12 as opposed to Dec 6. Crap!

Maybe because bowling in the nets is a lot different to bowling in a match, and he didn't play in the third test, so it seems sensible for him to get some match practice before the SA series.

He would be playing domestic cricket otherwise (Ranji Cup) which would be more overs than the ten he'd have to bowl in the ODIs

Take Praveen Kumar for the World Cup,we need a person like him. He has got a variety of deliveries and can be quite effective in breaking partnerships.

Or it is the CSK effect. Honestly, I was surprised, even Lakshmipathy Balaji should have been in the side.

I second the bid for Praveen. He's been a little expensive in the recent past he played in, but his potential would come in handy and his Batting skills would help at the back of the pack.

But honestly, the best for the side would be to rotate their third pace bowler for the group stages.

Virat Kohli can double up with his gentle seam-up options too. Harsha Bhogle has written a nice article about the compostition of the team for the World Cup. A must read I'd say.

Going back to the series, NZ have surely taken a beating here. This sub-continental tour has been harsh on them. They need to pick up the pieces fast else you may have another minnow going through to the Quarters during the Cup.

I'd say a terribly out of form NZ will still walk all over Canada and Kenya.
Zimbabwe on there day should be a good test, but I'd still say NZ easily.

Parthiv Patel deserved it, infact it came too late for my liking. He is a better bat than KKD anyways. Hoping his keeping outshines in the last 2 ODIs.

I don't know howcome selectors have given Rohit Sharma yet another chance, he has been a failure at international level and is a vry average fielder. This time we could have tried Rahane or Pujara in ODI set-up seeing how Raina gradually drafted himself into test side on basis of his international exposure in ODIs.
