Kiwis are going to get whipped real hard this series. I will be surprised to see them win a single match in any format. They do have the ability to upset the Indians but the task seems way too uphill for them at the moment.

The bowlers I suppose will be chosen based on conditions. The article also mentions that Bennett got the nod ahead of Tuffey because of his pace. They wanted a mix of pace and swing bowlers. McKay and Bennett being pace, Southee and Arnel (?) being swin, and Martin being Martin.

I kinda hope Martin plays one game because I just love watching him bat

If they're only playing three pace bowlers plus Vettori, you feel they'll need Williamson as a second spin option.

A middle order of Taylor, Ryder, Williamson, Vettori is actually pretty strong, and test match quality, it's just the top three, and our pace bowlers.

Williamson and Ryder as the fifth bowler would probably work quite well. Hopefully the selectors don't think that they need to play a second specialist spinner just because it's in India.

That middle order is quite strong, but Taylor and Ryder aren't too consistent and Williamson is an unknown quantity. That being said, their bowlers aren't too threatening.

I was just reading the thread on this series at CricketWeb because I couldn't be bothered studying. They have some pretty decent discussions over there.

what would NZ do in this circumstance? would McCullum be happier about keeping to give the team an extra bat. Would they maybe even play with only 3 bowlers and play with such a long line up they could snatch draws?

The players who played against Australia are retained for this series. Good to see Pujara being retained. Hope he gets a chance in one of the matches in this series and does more to keep Yuvraj completely out and keeps himself more cemented.

WHAT FOR? Tendulkar isnt playing any ODI tournaments in recent times. Let him play as many tests as he can. We want to see him in atleast tests.

I am guessing someone will get injured and Vijay or Pujara will come in (maybe Gambhir or Sehwag and one of the other middle order guys).

But back then New Zealand had better players in their team. The current players are pretty unknown.
