New Zealand tour of Sri Lanka, 2009

:(

Not looking forward to Tuesday TBH. I've got a strong feeling we could get rolled. In saying that I've got a feeling Guptill will go really well, and hopefully Taylor keeps his form up. Ryder should be fit by then wouldn't he?

You don't become a good player of spin in just a week's time, do you? :sarcasm

NZ's gonna get ***** by Murali and an 'out of form' Mendis.

:p How come only our kiwi friends are posting in this thread and no one else? :p

This is getting ridiculous!
No offense guys, but Chris Martin!!Oh dear!! He can hardly survive a single delivery!!!
Even a school kid can bat better than him.

Why can't the coaching staff do something about it?
Just a little surviving technique would do.
This needs to be sorted immediately or else they'll have to learn it the hard way.

Practice, Practice, Practice. I think they're doing this just to get a gauge on what it will be like to play Murali, and not trying to improve in just a week.

You said it right brother!
I think Daniel Flynn and Ross Taylor are the only decent players of spin in this side.
Brendon McCullum,as we all know can do anything with his never say die attitude.

I know what's going to follow here.
Our kiwi friends will probably tell me "What do you know about NZ??" :D

Learn the hard way?

Why does the number 11 batsmen need to be able to bat well?

That's practically impossible.
They've been probably practicing during their entire cricket career span.

Do i have to remind you of the 2005 ashes series mate?

How many of our batsmen have actually played Murali. Read the article, this kid is suppose to have a action that's very similar to him.

And yes, the reason for us winning or losing the series will come down to Chris Martin's inability to bat.

What worries me is that they might just keep thinking of how to play Murali and other spinners while Kulasekara and Thushara will rip through their top order.

I think they will have to play the spinners as naturally as possible rather than just getting tips from Saqlain or some kiddie spinner who similar action to Murali cause it's gonna confuse them and Vettori has clearly mentioned that the pace attack of SL has improved so they should be worried about that also.

I've accepted Martin can't bat. It's actually pretty funny to watch to be fair.

I wouldn't take Murili destroying us as a given. He's getting older and hasn't performed so well recently (still great don't get me wrong) Plus you'd think guys like Taylor, McCullum, Oram will learn from previous mistakes. It's the new guys i'm half worried about. Plus we have Mushy helping the team out and stuff. If we were ever going to play him well it should be now. The opening pace bowlers are honestly nothing special. If they get assistance then they'll probably do well, but so will our bowlers and I think ours are actually better.

Evidently there were a bunch of crap umpire decisions so i'm not going to read too much into the batting performance.

Brendon McCullum has also played quite abit of cricket with Mendis so he would be passing what he knows about him too the other batsmen.

That happen's quite a lot in these types of tour games, it explains why there was so many lbw's though.
