AUSTRALIA ON TRACK AFTER 25

Australia have made a remarkable turnaround after struggling at 3/53. They are now 3/149 off 25 overs and well on track to take a lead in this Chapple-Hadlee series. Ponting has been in brilliant touch, it is not often that Andrew Symonds is turning the strike over to another player...

Ponting and Symonds can finish off easily as the required rate is just above 4!!! Also its a great captain's knock!!!!

BREAKTHROUGH COMES FOR THE KIWIS

There is still a glimmer of hope for the Kiwis after Andrew Symonds was caught and bowled off Jacob Oram for a well made 41. Symonds drove a full ball on the up straight back to oram who barely had to move from his original delivery position to take the catch and maybe light a spark for the Kiwis...

M.Clarke 1(1)*
R.Ponting 99(84)*
A.Symonds 41(55)
Aus: 4/169 (28)
RR: 6.03

87 run required
6 wickets in hand

S.Bond 2/31 (6)
K.Mills 1/43 (7)
J.Oram 1/50 (9)
J.Franklin 0/38 (6)

Good intelligent bowling from Oram to get that wicket of Symonds. But the Aussies still have the edge, especially with Punter in such sublime form.

its a dominating innings by Ponting!!! Aussies are sure to win this as just 87 more to go!!!

PONTING SCORES A GAME SAVING CENTURY

Ponting has reached yet another century in the short version of the game to guide his team within reach of victory after looking down and almost out. Ponting has made use of his good footwork and the fast outfield to dominate over the Kiwi attack...

Australia's worm shows just how much the partnership between Ponting and Symonds hurt the Kiwis. The quick run rate has almost put the Kiwis out of the game...

Excellent century by Ponting. Australia can still lose this game :(.

120 balls 80 runs required 6 wickets in hand Aussie can easily win now unless they lose some wickets.

HOPE STILL FOR THE KIWIS

The Kiwis are now providing a real challenge for the Aussies after removing Ricky Ponting just after he struck his century. Ponting was trapped in front by a full ball from Mills as he tried to flick it away through mid wicket. This is a big wicket as it bring another new batsmen to the crease at a crucial time for the Aussies...

Ponting's spider graph shows how strong he was through the point and cover regions...

Aussies are maintaining their runrate excellent from the first over!!! Hussey can get his team to victory!!! But Bond has four overs to go who shd be the key for NZ!!!

CLARKE AND HUSSEY LEAD AUSTRALIA OUT OF DANGER

The Kiwis are now all but gone after a solid partnership between Hussey and Clarke. They could never get that final wicket which would have lead them into the tail. Australia will now go 1-0 in this Chapple-Hadlee series...
