LEE CLAIMS AN EARLY WICKET

Brett Lee has struck early and given his team a clear advantage by removing in form batsmen Jamie How for 18. How received a full ball on off stump which he tried to over drive. The ball shaped away enough to create a thin outside edge which Gilchrist took comfortably, first blood of the series to Australia!

BOTH OPENERS BACK IN THE PAVILLION

Andrew Symonds has proven to be a wildcard with the ball by snaring the wicket of Lou Vincent. Vincent got forward and tried to drive a Symonds outswinger but only gave an outside edge to the waiting hands of Ricky Ponting at gully. With both openers gone Australia will be looking to press their advantage.

HOGG REMOVES NATHAN ASTLE

Brad Hogg has again struck at a valuable time for the Australians to leave the Kiwis at 3/111. Hogg was being hit around the park by Fleming and Astle so he decided to pitch a wrong-un right up onto the stumps to see what would happen. Astle tried to sweep the full ball away thinking it would spin away from his stumps but got a nasty shock when his middle stump was broken as the ball skidded on the other way...

S.Fleming 42(42)*
N.Astle 12(13)

LEE CONTINUES TO TROUBLE THE KIWIS

Brett Lee has continued his fine test form by removing Fleming from the crease just short of his 50. Fleming got caught on the backfoot by slightly low bounce and paid the price when he was rapped on the pads on the top of off stump. Australia now have a slight advantage over the home team...

J.Oram 4(5)*
H.Marshall 6(12)*
S.Fleming 48(49)
NZ: 4/133 (26)
RR: 5.11

Kiwis must try to play entire 50 overs... Bowlers especially Lee have done their gud job!!!

Right thread this time LH ;)

MARSHALL STRIKES HIS 50 WITH 9 OVERS TO GO

Hamish Marshall has struck a key 50 to give his team the edge after 41 overs. Marshall has hit shots to all parts of the ground and is very deserving in getting his 50. Australia need to keep the run rate low in these last 9 overs to prevent the score going past 270...

H.Marshall 55(49)*
J.Oram 29(52)*
S.Fleming 48(49)
NZ: 4/202 (41)
RR: 4.92
54 balls remaining
6 wickets in hand

Looking good but we can't say who has won after 25 overs of aus innings

MARSHALL CAUGHT SLOGGING

Australia have made a vital breakthrough in this innings. Hamish Marshall was being tied down by some good tight bowling and tried to up the run rate. He opened his shoulders and tried to slog Brett Lee over the covers to the fence. The ball came onto Marshall too quickly however, and all he managed to do was toe the ball straight to Katich at point...

B.McCullum 2(3)*
J.Oram 46(68)*
H.Marshall 60(60)
S.Fleming 48(49)
NZ: 5/227 (46)
RR: 4.93
24 balls remaining
5 wickets in hand

B.Lee 3/36 (9)

I thought my mind was playing tricks on me. Great work as always Cricket_60 ;).

Big wicket for Australia who will probably feel comfortable making 250 if they can keep the kiwis runs down in the last few overs.

Go Lee. A crucial wicket for Australia. Cmon lee get two more. Great presentation mate!

KIWIS IN EVEN MORE TROUBLE

Stuart Clark has been rewarded for his tight and consistent bowling with the wicket of Jacob Oram. Oram like Marshall, tried to slog a pitched up ball over the top of the covers. This time the nip off the pitch induced a nick which flew low to the keeper where Gilchrist took a good catch. Australia are bowling themselves into a good position here...

D.Vettori 1(2)*
B.McCullum 3(4)*
H.Marshall 60(60)
J.Oram 50(71)
S.Fleming 48(49)

N.Bracken 0/41 (9)
B.Hogg 1/61 (10)
