After almost 1 and 1/2 days without play due to rain finally play started . Hayden and Ponting came back to the ground to continue the innings . While Vettori opted to bowl with his strike bowlers Bond and Gillespie . Hyaden who was great form was not out on 66 came and played really positively . Aussies tried to score some quick runs as they knew the result was very difficult as a lot of play was left with just one day to go . Pnting played some deightful shots to both Bond and Gillespie . While Hayden looked in sublime form as he smashed Gillespie for 2 boundaries in an over . But soon the 78 runs partnership was broken by Vettori . Ponting was clean bowled by Vettori . Michael hussey came in . He was going through a very rough patch of his career . And he was the next one to go for a duck . Hussey caught at square leg by the captain of the bowling of Bond . Big Blow for the Aussies as they lost 2 wickets in 2 overs . But this was not gonna stop Hayden as he smashed Bond for a six in the same over and Vettori for another in the next over . Kiwis needed the all important Hayden wicket who was now closing towards his century .

New man in was Michael Clarke . Clarke was looking to give the strike to Hayden as he was in great form . Hayden played a great cover drive for four of Bond . But no sooner he was out . Hayden tried to play a useless leg glance and was caught at square leg by Papps for 96 of Vettori . A great and entertaining innings came to an end . The crowd stood up and applauded him as he made way for Symonds . But Symonds to didnt stay long at the crease as he was caught at silly point while defending Vettori . It was a big blow for Aussies . Vettori had exposed the middle order of Aussies as they were 177/5. Symonds went for a poor 5 runs which were all singles .

Adam Gilchrist the aggressive keeper came in as Aussies lost their 5 wicket . Vettori as predicted by our experts was the danger man for the Aussies as he was getting a lot of turn as well as uneven bounce to trouble the batsmen . The runs know were being very hard to score as the ball was not coming on to the bat . Vettori was changing his bowlers from one side and he bowled form the other side continuously . Clarke and Gilchrist had to stay at the crease . Gilchrist played a good looking cut of Vettori for a boundary . It was a welcomed boundary for the Aussies which came after 8 overs . Gilchrist and Clarke decided to take the singles here and there and rotate the strike . But Vettori after some period brought all his fielders in the circle with only one at extra cover as a sweeper to stop the Australians from rotating the strike . And the trick worked . Gilchrist tried to loft it over mid one but was unable to and was caught easily by Bond . Vettori had his 3rd wicket . Debutant White was in . He looked solid as he played Franklin . They both rotated the strike . But due to poor calling by Clarke , he got himself run out for 27 . Aussies in deep trouble as the last 4 were left . Aussies 213 for 7 .

Aussies needed some runs badly . Lee and White were in the centre . They both were really troubled by the slow balls of Franklin and Vettori . It seemed as wicket was ver near . And it was very near indeed as Brett Lee edged one to silly point and the catch was taken easily by Fulton . Lee went for 0 . The new man in was Johnson . Johnson was known as a hitter in domestic cricket . But at this stage he needed to stay and support White who is well known all rounder . But that was not so . Johnson was surprised with bounce of Franklin that he got some bat on it and was caught easily at square leg by Gillespie . Aussies lost their 9th wicket for 214 well short of New Zealand's total . Last man in was Clark . White rotated the strike well and Clark did the blocking. White scored tow boundaries of Styris and Vettori through covers . He had to lead his team now with the bat . It was getting darker and darker . And soon at 6:21 pm umpires called it bad light as the Day 4 was ended by the Aussies . New Zealand had completely dominated . The Aussie batsmen fell down as nine pins . With only hayden scoring a great 96 . So at stumps on Day 4 Aussies were 230 for 9 .

Phillips the Review​

Tony Grieg : Welcome all . We had just a 2 and half of play today . But what an entertaining session we had . It was top quality bowling by the Kiwis lea by Vettori . And a lot poor batting by the Aussies . Just Hayden was the man who got the runs . With me to talk more about this is i have Martin Crowe and Geoffrey Boycott . Geoff poor batting display by the Aussies .

Geoffrey Boycott : It was just rubbish batting by the Australian . When Hayden and Ponting were playing I thought we are gonna get some quick big runs . But since Ponting fell everyone fell down . It looked as if Ponting led . Ponting was bowled by great delivery by Vettori . Then Hussey's poor form continued . A rubbish shot by Hayden when he is in the 90s . Symonds was too unlucky along with Lee as they got their outside ages due to uneven bounce . Gilchrsit's wicket was due to frustration as the runs were very difficult o come and so he tried to go over the top . Clarke run out was poor running between wickets and Johnson's wicket was again due to bounce . But now its all to Cameron White , he has been positive and if he plays like that then it would be good for him and his team.

Martin Crowe : Yeah , It was just superb display by the kiwis out there . Vettori led from the front . Hayden and Ponting were great shots but then once Ponting fell then all fell down like a set of pins . Vettori was superb with the ball . As Wasim mentioned bafore start of play that he would be crucial and he was . He got lot of uneven bounce , spin and luck which got him his 5 wickets . Seeing at the other bowlers Bond was a bit expensive but he got the all important wicket of Hayden , Styris was also too expensive in his 5 overs . Franklin bowled really well . As he came to know that with slow deliveries he was able to get a lot of wing he bowled really when then . So to summarize it , it was a all round bowling performance by the Kiwis .

Martin Crowe : Its very difficult to get a result . Even if there is nor rain tomorrow the also it is rather impossible to get a result .
