Phillips Lunch Time Talk
Tony Grieg : Welcome to Phillips Lunch Time Talk . As all of you can see behind me that it has started raining very heavily behind me on the ground . As it was forecasted of showers today . With me in the studio I have Ian Chappell . Ian worst thing that should have happened to such a great test match is to be stopped due to rain .
Ian Chappell : You are right Tony , this was turning out be a cracker of a match but yes you cant control the weather .
Tony Grieg : It happened exactly as you said in the morning , Aussies coming out trying to finish the Kiwi innings as quick as possible and then go an make the runs . The first three overs costed 9 runs and 3 wickets . That was good bowling by the Aussies to finish the tail off.
Ian Chappell : Exactly getting the 3 wickets for 9 runs was some great bowling by the Aussies . I was bit surprised when Ponting gave Cameron the new ball with Lee , but he got 2 wickets in his last two balls which really end the innings . The wicket of Fulton was always gonna be important as he was the inform batsmen and he was surprised by the bounce that hit got which he lofted to mid on like the wicket of Vettori . While Bond did something foolish by not playing a shot and was trapped in front . And then it was Brett Lee who finished the things of . Give a good length ball and Franklin edging it . So to conclude it was great bowling by the Aussies on day 2.
Tony Grieg : The batting of Aussies was better than their bowling . Hayden and Jaques just getting quick runs and then complete domination by Hayden .
Ian Chappell : Kiwis were not on target with their bowling . They were just bowling anywhere to a player like Hayden . I think they had left their minds in the dressing room and had come to ball. Jaques started the inning with a great four to fine leg and then the momentum completely shifted from Kiwis to The Aussies. Hayden and Jaques both went against the bowling . In particular Hayden was looking more aggressive . As you can see in his wagon wheel he scored some great boundaries through covers and through mid on . His six over third man was also a great shot . Styris was very expensive as he was smashed for a six and 3 fours by Hayden . Jaques was the first one to go . A brilliant yorker by Gillespie . But then Ponting also played some great cuts on the off side . Haydne reached his 28th 50 with a great cover drive , To finish things of a great batting display by the Aussies especially Hayden .
Hayden Wagon Wheel
Tony Grieg : What do you think . How is this match poised ?
Ian Chappell : This match is evenly poised . If Kiwis are able to get some quick wickets in the next session they are right back in it .
Tony Grieg : We last time asked you a question in our Predicta contest the question was -
Which bowler will take the most wickets in this innings...???
a) Brett Lee
b) Michell Johnson
c) Stuart Clark
d) Cameron White
e) Other
Winners will earn reps....so keep predicting....
And the right Answer was Cameron White who took 4 wickets.
Congrats to all who predicted Cmaeron White
Ok so good bye to all as the rain has delayed the start of play . So we will bring a quick and small update in a couple hours . Now we can just hope the rain goes away .
