Rain Delays Play On Day 5​

Tony Grieg : Rain has delayed the start of play on day 5 . The rain has again started to pour down very heavily over here as the MCG . If the rain continues for more that an hour and half the match may be abandoned and be declared as a draw . We will have an official hearing from the umpires after some time . This test matched has been completely washed away by the rains . But still then we will meet in and haours time to get the official announcement from the umpires . But it is hardly impossible to get the result now from this test match even though the rain stops . So we can just hope for the best . Still goodbye . We will meet in an hours time .

The match was going along nicely nut now it rains again and now i don't think that any result is possible even if play resumes. Still i hope i watch some cricket.

Tony Grieg : The match has been abandoned due to play and declared as a drawn match . Lets here it from the umpire Simon Taufel

Michael Slater : Simon , so the two umpires have decided to abandon the games play today ?

Simon Taufel : Yes as you can see the rain has not stopped yet completely . So I had a chat with the tow skippers and they came to an conclusion that the match should be called off as it was not possible to get a result today . So we talked with match referee and now we declared it as a drawn match .

Michael Slater : Oh , it must be so frustrating on the part of the players and the umpires to ?

Simon Taufel : Yes it is really frustrating as there is no play today . The rain has poured down heavily in last 3 days and so we had to come to this decision . It was really a great match . But the weather in Sydney would be much better .

Michael Slater : Thank You Simon , we can only hope that its not the same weather in Sydney . Back to you Tony .

Presentation Ceremony With Mark Taylor​

Mark Taylor : Welcome to the presentation . We had a rain interupted game and which result to a draw . First I would call Ricky Ponting ponting the Aussie captain
Ricky its almost rain saved the Aussies from a defeat ? Really bad batting from the Aussies.

Ricky Ponting : I don't think so rain saved us . We could have stilled won the match . But yes the batting was woeful . We need to get runs in that middle order . Hussey has been failing and now its time for him to get back his form . We were good with ball . Cameron was superb on debut . And we can hope that Sydney Test does be a rain interrupted test .

Mark Taylor : Thank You , Ricky . Now can I invite the Kiwi skipper Daniel Vettori
Daniel the Kiwis outplayed the Aussies in this test match . But the there was no luck on your .

Daniel Vettori : Yes we really played well in this test match. But the weather was not with us . Getting the lead in the series would have been very good . Our batting was superb on day one and then the bowling was just excellent . Peter played and very important knock and also raised his well deserved 100 . It was complete team contribution . And we hope that the weather in Sydney is not the same .

Mark Taylor : Thank You , Daniel . Now the Man of The Match was decided by the commentary team and is given to Peter Fulton for his splendid 100 on his return from injury .
Peter really well played innings . Sad that the rain God was no on your side?

Peter Fulton : Thanks , Yeah on day one the ball was coming nicley on to the bat and it was easier to play . I desperately wanted my century which now has given me a lot of confidence . Yeah , luck was not with us because we dominated the Aussies and they had lost 9 wickets in their 1st innings . We hope the rain is not there in Sydney and we can see complete 5 days of test match .
