Symonds and Johnson had to a lot of remaining work...Mainly Johnson had to support Symonds who was looking in his best form....Johnson played well ...he gave the most of the strike to Symonds..Symonds also kept on taking the singles...Johnson tried to sweep Vettori but was caught at short fine leg by Franklin...This was a very big blow for Australia...Symonds was now left alone with Tait...Tait was facing Vettori..Tait took a single the first ball he faced...Symonds faced Vettori..Symonds smashed Vettori for a six and took a single of the last ball..The six eased a lot of pressure...Oram continued form the other end...Australia need 6 runs more...Symonds played the first 4 balls carefully and didn't take any run...the fifth ball he smashed Oram out of the park to win the match for Australia....

What an ending to a thriller between the rivals...Australia were saved thanks to Andrew Symonds' wonderful knock...

Presentation Ceremony with Mark Taylor

MT:Welcome Ladies and gentlemen to the presentation ceremony of the 2nd ODI of the commonwealth bank Chappell/Hadlee Series..We were able to see some outstanding cricket today..Some brilliant bowling by both the teams and a great knock by Andrew Symonds...Now i wud like to invite the unlucky losing captain Daniel Vettori..

Daniel no luck today..Symonds snatched the victory from your hands today..

DV:Yes Mark we didn't score a very competitive total but at the end our bowlers ball superbly..We bowled in the right spots and areas...And we are happy that we gave the Aussies a very tough fight to make 204..But at the end luck was not on our side maybe...

MT:Today's match exposed the Australian top four ...This can really cause Aussies the problem when they lose their top four cheaply...

DV:Yes right the spell from Bond and Franklin at start was always going to be crucial and I think they bowled really well today..We got rid of their top four and it really exposed the Aussies...The top four are known to be their strength but it can also be their weakness...Anyways we were unable to get Symonds out early and so he made us pay...and now its to the wire ...

MT:There is a match in the between against Australia ...the Relief Fund match so what are ur thoughts for that match...we it affect ur strategy or practice...

DV:Yes that match will be entertaining match...No it ill not change our strategy or practice but we will be able to learn more about the weakness of the Aussies when Oram and me play with the World XI team...so hopefully it is and entertaining one...

MT:Thanks for speaking and Good Luck...

Now ladies and Gentlemen the winning captain Ricky Ponting

Ricky a easy total to chase but it never looked a easy chase for ur team...

RP:Yes Mark it was not a big total..Our bowlers ball well to restrict them below 210 and now it was to our batsmen to finish the job..But the crucial spell form Bond and Franklin which exposed our batting made this match a tough one to win..Even after the rain interval the pitch had slowed down and the moisture on it helped the spinners like Vettori to take wickets..But Symonds rescued us...

MT:It was a brilliant partnership from Hopes and Symonds which really took away the match from NZ ...

RP:Yes , Symonds played a wonderful and sensible innings...he played it when it was need ...Hopes also supported him very well...He is a very handy with the bat and ball so he make his place in the team as he is a allrounder and he showed today his really worth..Superb innings under pressure.

MT:Next is against World XI before the last ODI any thoughts on that match...

RP:Match against World XI wud be the one of the msot entertaining battle...World XI lead by MS Dhoni will be more stronger than ever and we wud also have Shane Warne and McGrath in the team..so that fans cant ask anymore than a thriller like today...

MT:Thanks Ricky and Good luck

Now for the main award of the day..The Man of the MAtch award is choosen by the commentators and match referee ...we had Daniel Vettori , Brett Lee and Andrew Symonds as the nominees but at the end we decided to give it to Andrew Symonds who guided his team victory with a wonderful 83 runs..

Andrew a superb knock just at the right time when it was need...

AS:Yes when i came it was 8/3 and still more that 190 runs were need and our half batting was back in the pavilion...I was under lot of pressure...204 was not a big total but NZ bowlers bowled superbly..I wud like appriciate the fight they gave us ....Clarke and Hopes supported me and so I was able to play the right shots at the right time.,

MT:Partnership between u and Hopes was the turning point of the match???

AS:Hopes batted brilliantly ....he shud also be creditted for this win...we had to play some really sensible cricket at that time and Hopes did exactly the same thing..He scores 3 or 4 boundries but the main thing we did is that we kept rotating the stike against Vettori who was being a big threat...After the interval the pitch had been slow and so the ball didnt come on the bat well as it came when NZ batted...

MT:Congrats for the win and Good Luck for the next match....

News from the center is that Australia win the match by 1 wicket in hand and leveled the series 1-1 and so it is last match to watch for the outcome of the series....

next match World XI vs Australia XI
