Nov 25-29: 1st Test: Australia v England at Brisbane

If Lara can score 400 on his own I see no reason why 11 batsmen can't make 400 between themselves.

:spy

anything can happen but I think an england win is a lot closer to "in your dreams" than to "easily possible"

england are always up against it when they need big totals, they don't have batsmen who make a habit of scoring big centuries.

I'm backing Bell to score a big one if he bats tomorrow (hopefully not :p) but KP is starting to get back in the motion of scoring runs. He was unlucky on the first day that Siddle was fired up on his birthday.

On another note in Cardiff didn't virtually the same thing happened England batted first got a decent score with no hundreds but Australia got a great score, then England survived around 5 sessions IIRC.

If it wasn't for the rain interruption on the 4th day, we would have had 4.5 sessions. But it ended up being 3.5 sessions.

If we dont lose any wickets in the first few overs on day 4 then i think we can knock those runs off easy, then go on and set a total of around 250.

However our batting has alot of previous of collapsing very quickly and it could just as easy be over within 2 sessions.

Come on england

:lol I can't believe what I am reading here. This is the Gabba pitch not the subcontinent.

Really disappointing for England today. Can't say that I was disappointed with how they bowled (in the morning they were pretty exemplary) as they just didn't get that little bit of luck. Well played Huss though was outstanding as was Haddin albeit to a lesser extent.

For me everything is dependent on how Strauss and Cook go, if they're able to hang around and get us a century first wicket partnership we have an outside chance of getting a 200 lead. Very unlikely but we shouldn't just lie down and roll over from here because we think we've already lost.

Only player I'd say was disappointing from an English view was Swann. Really struggled for his usual control.

Well, I gave up watching when Hussey was plumb in front sometime in the 80s, and it seems it was a good decision to give up.

This feels like a really close game in many ways yet we're facing a 200 run first innings deficit.
The cracks are big enough that even with a flat pitch staying in for 4/5 sessions will be really tough.

Doherty batting above Siddle and Hilfy shows he definitely is better than his stats show. I've always seen him as a handy lower order batsmen and Punter thinks the same.

High time Hilfy or Johnson stand up tomorrow and Doherty could lock his test spot for a long time tomorrow. Would like to see Siddle bowl a good line and length while taking a few wickets.

England did the same in the afternoon session. Really disappointing how our heads dropped, disappointed with Swann too. The game will come down to being a hundred short in the first innings.

Hussey and Haddin ruined it for Englishmen today, that lad Finn actually made a mark, bright future for him in world cricket.

Finn could go onto become something very special if he cuts out the four ball he bowls every other over. Makes him leak a hell of alot of runs when the ball isn't doing much.
