Nov 25-29: 1st Test: Australia v England at Brisbane

England bowlers are leaking runs, also Swann doesn't look that effective with old ball. Time to try Collingwood.

Australia batting too slowly I think, they still need to get England out again and then chase the total. This could easily turn into a draw with Australia's attack

This is now Australia's game to lose.
The way these two are playing, it feels like they might go on to get a bigger lead over England.

Anderson definitely needed a bit of luck, but while he bowled a decent length, I'm not sure he was quite hitting the right area. He did enough to get a breakthrough, but not more than enough, if such a criticism can make sense.

Broad did have a short spell where he pitched it up, but mostly bowled short. While Anderson has been commendable, I think Broad has been largely pathetic. Persistent short pitched bowling at set batsmen is defeatist, especially if you think they don't know their home pitches. I could tolerate a bowler pushing the batsman back to sneak in the yorker, but Broad hasn't bowled anything close to a yorker all game. This is exactly why he has the worst strike rate out of any specialist bowler in this match.

lol wut, you forgot that there are still 2 days left? On a really good bowling pitch?

We should bat the whole day and a bit tomorrow. But that is a bit too hopeful I feel lol.

I'm surprised Hussey's only ever scored one 150+, and it was against Bangladesh

I reckon we need to be 200 in front but no more. Probably less. We've got to give England enough to win but enough for us to defend.

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Once again Mr Cricket has rowed Australia out of dangerous waters. Haddin has shown his worth as well. I don't think Paine would have been able to replicate Haddin's performance here. Australia are firmly in the driver's seat and are steering towards a huge first innings lead.

Yeah we will just pass 200 if we bat out the day. Might as well play a bit more tomorrow and get a quick 50 extra, and then we have 5 sessions to get England out which is plenty of time.

My mistake if we bat towards end of today, we will have a lead of atleast 250. Yeah just declare overnight.

But we should bat properly like now, slog in the last session.

I agree. Either declare overnight or give the boys 10 overs at the end of the day and see if we can't get a couple of quick wickets. 250 might be okay (as in not too much) given the quality of the deck at the moment. Even something less like 220. Just depends on how quick these two push along. What would be nice is a quick storm to wet the pitch an hour before the end of play, the tractor breaks down and then it becomes like a sauna. :D

England seem to be going through the motions and waiting for a declaration that won't be coming. This is pathetic really.

I get the feeling they thought this whole series was going to be fairly easy going. They seem to have no fire in their belly.
