Nov 25-29: 1st Test: Australia v England at Brisbane

Haddin finally gone.

Any feasible way to win this from here? Sudden burst of wicket, lead of 200, bat on and score 450 (Strauss and KP with tons, others weigh in), shoot Aussies out for under 250 for a famous win?

Ponting bowling North in the first Ashes test... sound familiar?

Maybe if they can get 400ish and bowl really well. They'd be hoping the pitch ends up woefully cracked though, which wouldn't exactly bode well for another big total.

Johnson will get lots of wickets. The current pitch with the dryness and the pace suits him the best. Also if Siddle can land the balls on the cracks like he did at the SCG 2 years ago he will be a handful.

TumTum added 0 Minutes and 52 Seconds later...

19 on the board, 402 more to go. Lead of 200 and it's game on.

:lol 402 in your flinging dreams.

England seem to be going through the motions and waiting for a declaration that won't be coming. This is pathetic really.

It's nothing new, Vaughan used to do it about 60 runs before England were behind!

re the uddrly useless review system, when are the powers that be in cricket going to embrace technology properly? At the moment it is more a tactic/gimmick than being used properly, it's no wonder teams 'run out of reviews' and then suffer. Either the aim is to get decisions right or they shouldn't use it at all, and I wouldn't give it to captains I'd let the umpires use it when LBWs are close or if the fielding side or batting side claim there is/isn't an edge which makes a difference - with severe penalties for abuse of said privelege.

At the moment all it does is cause as much controversy as when it wasn't in place, the umpires still make mistakes which go uncorrected and now it's almost like an extra life or two rather for batsmen whereas before you just accepted the umpires made mistakes due to lack of technology and everyone got on with it.

Of course captains like Strauss don't like it because they don't have a clue how to use it properly. They're like kids at christmas, can't wait to open their presents. Until some of the captains work out the purpose the system will fail and they'll hate it, as do I because it's halfarsed, you should either get ALL decisions right or not use replays etc at all.
