How do you access these settings on online? When I try to play host on my PS3 the game options are much more limited than this.....
That's in the match type designer inside the Don Bradman Academy. Once you make a match type, you can then play online with it by selecting it in the same spot as the T10, T20, etc.)

@MattW: the one wicket settings are pretty awesome. Had a couple of very intense online matches (one had 3 close BARS reviews turned down :D when I was batting). These settings make a very good gametype post patch 2 as the chances of rogue wickets have drastically reduced. Kudos Big Ant team - DBC still continues to surprise me. Worth buying the ps3 just for this game alone. (Pity I did not have a decent PC to play the PC version too)

I really like them because with other short forms of the game, losing wickets isn't a risk - which is why everyone on random online matches seems to just swing at anything and everything.

Against a really good opponent you really have to force the mistake, because you can just leave, defend or just take an easy single with no pressure to score quickly.

Exactly, in one of my games where the total of all innings just exceeded 110 runs, there were hardly a couple of boundaries hit - these were natural strokes timed really well & not shots played anger.

Had some online games with @MattW earlier. Very good fun especially when I moved off wifi on to Ethernet. Much smoother experience.

Lost the "series" 3-0 though. Much practice required.

I feel like less people would swing at everything if they only had 5 wickets for the Five 5 by default.

I played an online Five 5 game just now... My opponent as 90s Australia and me accidentally picking Afghanistan (timed out as I was cycling through teams).

He won the toss and batted first, I managed to limit him to 42 from his five overs. When I come out to bat I manage to make 18 off the first three overs from his seamers, then he puts Warne on and I charge down and hit three consecutive advance shot sixes over his head from the first three balls of the over, he bowls a wide which I swing and miss at, then I hit another advance shot six to win the match.

I said it to begin with shortly after release that I thought that slogging was way too easy online - this is the first time I've been online since then really and it felt very much that way again, probably moreso now I've had more practice with the game batting on Veteran. Being able to smash these sixes so easily with the Afghan batsmen seems a little arcadey to me.

I would love to play against you. I wanna see how easy it is for you to hit those sixes. :)

Ok had some online loon called mcfete trying to wind me up on steam because he won a 5 over game, wow life's too short.:yes
Think i will have a break, cannot be bothered with idiots like this.:)

Hmm... Kind of just feel like I cheated.

In a Five 5 my opponent was smashing my bowling all over the place no matter what I tried... Pace, spin, variety, changing the field... Everything was getting the treatment.

With a couple of overs to go with him needing about 10 runs, out of frustration I though 'oh, I've lost, let's just throw the ball to Cook'... My opponent could barely get bat on ball whatsoever if I did the slower ball (left stick down) and bowled it very short, and these are so slow that they actually bounce low enough to hit the stumps as well.

After Cook's over I put Bopara on next and did the same, and ended up limiting him to only about 4 runs from those two overs, getting 3 or 4 wickets in the process and winning the match...

This is exactly the reason why Big Ant have to sort the minimum speed for the bowlers, especially medium pacers and spinners. Bowling with no-specialist bowlers at an extremely slow speed would see the bowlers get hammered in real life but in the game such tactics are actually rewarded.

Big Ant need to have the minimum speed for a medium pacer around 100 kph and the timing window to be a lot bigger. At the very least this needs to be added online in patch 3.

Yeah some of the deliveries were like 50mph (80km/h)... My opponent did a similar thing too but with a spinner, incredibly slow loopy deliveries that have a red marker to indicate they are short when they don't really appear to be and are very difficult to hit.

I have video footage so I may upload that at some point, but I agree that this needs to be tweaked a bit to not reward these types of deliveries and I would really like to see the default difficulty of online games upped to Veteran as well.

I love playing this game offline on the higher difficulties, but I just get fed up with all the slogging online.

That was a known bug and looks like the issue still isn't resolved, at least as far as online is concerned. Hopefully @BigAntStudios can look at resolving the slow short deliveries by medium pacers and spinners online, and offline as well for multi-player.

my experience is the AI is easily enough of a douchebag to do you with the medium pace slower bouncer that still gets you LBW because despite hitting you above the pads it's so slow it's already on its way down.
