On a side note Shoaib looked very angry and upset. At one stage it looked like he was ejected of the Pakistan dressing room meeting.
mate meeting was bitween all the players who were playing in that game, so ofcorse he had to go out. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

No, he left the meeting early and he hasn't released any statement of any sort.

Breaking news

8.50pm The Test match has finally been called off after a farcical afternoon and evening on the fourth day. The actual result is, as yet, unknown, but we will keep you posted.
from cricinfo

Apparantley, the match is going to be revoked of it's Test status, which will mean that all of the runs and wickets taken will not go on player's records I think.

Well, if the match has been called off then it will be awarded to England. It might be unfair, but as Kev has been saying, rules are rules and it would be good to follow them. Its a very controversial topic. Its a 50-50 split between even England fans as to whether Pakistan were right to protest in that way.
I also think that the analysis by TMS, that Darrell Hair needs to learn to communicate more with the players, is pretty much spot on. He might not like them, for whatever reason, but being a professional he should do his job without any qualms. Instead of just taking a look at the ball and signalling to the scorer that penalty runs were to be awarded, and bring out the box of new balls, he should have talked to Inzy, and told him what he thought had happened. Inzy could have then had a chance to talk to Hair and tell him what he thought.

It was quite wierd actually being there today. I dont think any of the crowd were particuarlly angry, too much fosters had been drunk!!

We just spent the time joking with the stewards and making a huge snake out of the plastic beer glasses, a great day, hell we got see KP make 96 it was great fun :cheers

The Test match still could be played tomorrow!

9.10 pm After the news that the Test was off there are again further conflicting reports coming out of the The Oval with sources saying the match is still on. The amazing events continue to unfold.

Woah this is going crazy i want the test to be played so i am happy but i dont know whats going on

Pakistan's claim that the ball had been damaged by being hit to the boundary - and for six - is not entirely credible.

The ball in question had not been hit for four during the previous three overs, and was never hit for six.

thats interesting..could explain the umpire's thinking..

so you are saying Gul does'nt know how to reverse swing, the bowl helped him? so why did he reverse swing the ball in first innings? MAGIC  ?

How did you get to that conclusion?

Gul is a fine bowler and like most Pakistani bowlers has Reverse swing as an armoury.

There is always 2 points to an argument though.

I think the same thing that has happened a few times in the past will happen here again. The ICC will get tangled up in its jumble of overlapping and confusing rules and will probably sweep everything under the carpet by stripping the match of official status. From what David Lloyd read of the rule book, I understand that Hair did not perform his duties correctly, according to the ICC rules.

This is the time for the ICC to step up and take control of the situation; a perfect opportunity to prove that they aren't a bunch of losers making moolah. Strong action must definitely be taken against somebody--or they'll just end up becoming a spineless organization again.

As i've mentioned previously, England can just sit back and await the verdict because this has sod all to do with them.
