he was right to call it a forfeit, if you look at the article on baggy green it clearly states the rules that say he should have done so

Daryll Hair has gotten a lot of criticism from the english media...

does it also state you can accuse another team of cheating without giving an explanation at first ?

Exactly. He was also probably a bit prejudiced by previous Pakistani experiences.

He gave them a chance to continue, but they stayed in the dressing room. He did go up to speak to them, as required by the rules. And how long did it take them to come out?

He has ruined the final Test of the summer, and given a bad end to the summer.

Cannot deny that. Bit of a shame, but like many people have said, Pakistan could have finished it off with a win, and then start having a go at Hair.

As for England man of the series, I can't help but think that Alistair Cook has made a brilliant impression. He is ridiculously patient for the age he is, and he has scored plenty of runs. I can't remember exactly how many centuries and fifties, but he has played very well.

And on the Pakistan side, well, theres no competition really.

It's not fair that many (im not referring to PC members) jumped straight to the conclusion that the Pakistani team tampered with the ball, an obvious case of misconceptions. I would say Darrel Hair himself was guilty of it, and certainly the crowd were.

And this is after there is no evidence on video that the ball was tampered with. I sure hope this incident does not happen again, it just wrecks this wonderful sport called cricket.

Theen when they were ready to play, Hair took it into his own hand to forfeit the game, with barely consoulting with the Pakistan team.

Umpire Hair seems to have consulted as much as is required by the law.

There were no sixes hit in the England innings between the times it could have occurred, and no 4s for 3 overs before the ball was picked up on.

-and then taking matters into his own hands and forfeiting the Test match, without giving Pakistan a chance to carry on with the game. The protest was a short statement and not saying that they were refusing to play.

From what it seems, he was not taking it into his own hands. He followed the letter of the law. If all I have heard is true, he gave Pakistan to carry on, it was when he went out the second time. Pakistan will have been given a message to get out there, and didn't. Laws of Cricket back up the umpires

its funny watching the replay, hair clearing is suspect of the pakistani's. What he did was the correct thing to do though, he thought they had been ball tampering, so he added 5 runs to england - its in the rulebook. Then when the players wouldnt come out he called a forfeit, also in the rulebook. Im not saying what he did was right, im just saying what he did was correct

I dont think we can blame either the umpires or the Pakistan team here before an official press release from the ICC, which will hopefully have some details of the umpires report and explanation. At this point both have valid reasons to have done what they did.

However I do think the protest could have been held at the end of the day's play especially since Pakistan were in a good position to win the game.

Coming back to the cricket, I thought KP once again threw his wicket, when his team needed a bigger score from him. This imo is the difference between him and someone like Yousuf Youhana, the latter, despite not being as entertaining, getting more runs for his team.

Thats the thing with KP though, you take what you get. He's an explosive batsman who definatley entertains, but is likely to throw his wicket away with a wild swipe here and there.

As long as he's fit for Australia that's fine, he's been expensive as a ODI bowler.

As far as i'm concerned, Harmy missing the ODI's is a blessing in disguise. It gives him some time to freshen up for the Ashes, and hopefully, it gives Stuart Broad his chance to shine.

I agree. Although I still fancy Pakistan to win the one dayers pretty comfortably.
