in my opinion man of the series mohammed yousuf

Please can everyone vote for two men of the series. We have an awful lot more votes for Pakistani players (player) than English players.

I voted for Ian Bell and Mohammad Yousuf.

Ian Bell made a strong comeback into the side, hitting three hundreds. He was one of the reasons why England's batting, prior to the fourth test had been so solid.

Yousuf Youhana on other hand was the man of the series. Once settled, it was almost impossible to get him out. Has to be one of the finest in the world at the moment. Although England could have prevented a lot of damage if they hold on to their cathces.

Does KP ever wear anything different to that manky blue vest in the dressing room? He looks like John McClane!

Anyway, I too voted for Yousef because he was the only player who we simply couldn't get out. Without him, the series would be favourable towards England.

how can you ban inzi if he aint did nothing wrong and if his players said they aint done anything i doubt he is going to say they have he will stick by his players

In the context of forfeiting the match, not neccesarily the ball tampering issue.

its obvious what will happen to hair,
he wont stand in a test ever again and good riddance

The ICC very rarely do what you expect and what makes sense.

just wathcing the interview of Woolmer by Athers.

So the Accusation sheet they were given was that the ball was changed because they say the condition of the ball had changed. No one player has been cited by the Umpires/Referees.

As I understand from that interview.

We need some statements from the umpires so we have the second side.

I went for Yousuf and Monty.

Back to back winning performances by a English spinner on English soil against Pakistan is a rarity.

Well done to jdbais on his voting for the best player :p.

Utter crap from the game just as England were making it interesting.

England had no chance at winning the game. They were outplayed and Pakistan can at least know that they woud have won if the umpires had of been competant.

We still had Colly, Bell, Read and the tail haven't been bad with the bat.

'Fourth Test awarded to England'

This is pathetic.

Actually awarding the Test to England was by the rules, but from that interview with Woolmer the umpires didn't seem very co-operative.

The sooner the ODIs and 20/20 get going the better, Agreed?

I picked Yousuf because he was just In fabulous form and was simply impossible to get out early without being run out!

And Monty as he bowled well on all surfaces getting quite a bit of turn!

What he did was the correct thing to do though, he thought they had been ball tampering, so he added 5 runs to england - its in the rulebook.

Hair did not see them tamper with the ball. How many times does it have to be said. Umpires have no business to make that call without seeing the incident.

I voted Yousuf and Strauss.

of course they have the right to make that call as they are in control of what happens In the middle

Hair thought It had been tampered with and followed the rules.
He may not and probably Isn't right but he followed the rules which Is a good sign that umpires follow every rule precisely!

We don't know that yet. There's been no statement at all from Hair.
Incidentally just to explode the theory that the scratches were probably caused by a KP 6 there was only one boundary between Cook getting out (51.5 overs) and the umpires changing the ball (55.6 overs) and that was through the covers not into the stands.

I've taken away all of jdbais's votes. I'm not going to waste my time working out who he intended to vote for.

I'm surprised that not that many people have voted for Ian bell... 3 momentum grabbing hundreds with the tail which were potentialy match-winning.

Duncan Fletcher

From what I have read, Duncan Fletcher went up to Darrell Hair a day before and asked him to look at the ball after it starts reversing.

Also interestingly, Rahul Dravid was caught on cameras in Zimbabwe, trying to rub a cough lozenge on the ball.
Tendulkar, Azhar Mahmood, Shoaib Akhtar, Atherton, John Lever and Waqar Younis have also been penalised for ball tampering.

Seems like ball tampering is widespread.

well if you say hair did see something why aint he saying anything and just let people think he is wrong he should speak up. or maybe we might find out in the match report from the umpire or the ICC. i just want confirmation that the ODIS will continue. i hearrd ian botham say that when the ball tampering issue happen in 1992. there was no ball released and no statement just kept quiet and it was against pakistan v england. i am only saying what botham said

ok to settle all the "nonsense" of people claim KP hit sixes or boundaries which damaged the ball.

Here is the Cricinfo comentary for the ball bowled starting with the dismissal of Cook, and ending when the ball was changed

51.5 Umar Gul to Cook, OUT.

52.1 Danish Kaneria to Pietersen, no run, padded away yet again
52.2 Danish Kaneria to Pietersen, no run, and again again.
52.3 Danish Kaneria to Pietersen, no run, still not taking the bait
52.4 Danish Kaneria to Pietersen, no run, more leaping bounce this time, but the same result
52.5 Danish Kaneria to Pietersen, no run, outside leg and left alone
52.6 Danish Kaneria to Pietersen, FOUR, outside off at last, - cracks the ball through the covers.
End of over 53 (4 runs) - England 222/3

53.1 Umar Gul to Collingwood, no run,
53.2 Umar Gul to Collingwood, no run,
53.3 Umar Gul to Collingwood, no run,
53.4 Umar Gul to Collingwood, no run,
53.5 Umar Gul to Collingwood, no run,
53.6 Umar Gul to Collingwood, 3 runs, a shovel through midwicket
End of over 54 (3 runs) - England 225/3

54.1 Danish Kaneria to Collingwood, no run,
54.2 Danish Kaneria to Collingwood, no run,
54.3 Danish Kaneria to Collingwood, no run,
54.4 Danish Kaneria to Collingwood, no run
54.5 Danish Kaneria to Collingwood, no run,
54.6 Danish Kaneria to Collingwood, no run,
End of over 55 (maiden) - England 225/3

55.1 Umar Gul to Pietersen, 2 runs, whipped off his hips for a couple
55.2 Umar Gul to Pietersen, no run,
55.3 Umar Gul to Pietersen, 1 run, nudge off the hips into space on the leg side
55.4 Umar Gul to Collingwood, 2 runs, through the covers to pick up another couple
55.5 Umar Gul to Collingwood, no run,
55.6 Umar Gul to Collingwood, no run,

But first there's a conference between the umpires. It looks like there's a problem with the ball, it seems to have got a bit damp, so out comes the fourth official with a box of spares. Inzy isn't very happy about this, because the ball was just beginning to find some reverse swing

Five penalty runs! Oho, trouble here. Umpire Hair taps his shoulder to signal the extra runs.

Of the 24 ball bowled there was:

19 dot balls !
4 scoring shots
1 four

infact if u go to cricinfo andl ook in more detail, you will see that most the dot balls were either padded away..
