anyone that says hair is a racist is just showing how little they know. Believe it or not, murali was chucking the ball (shock horror) and the ruling is that it should be no balled, did hair do that? yes he did? i forgot that abiding to the rules makes you a racist. How is anything that hair did in the 4th test against the rules or racist, please someone point this out to me because I would love to see it.

ICC Law 21.3

Umpires awarding a match
(a) A match shall be lost by a side which
either (i) concedes defeat
or (ii) in the opinion of the umpires refuses to play
and the umpires shall award the match to the other side.

(b) If an umpire considers that an action by any player or players might constitute a refusal by either side to play then the umpires together shall ascertain the cause of the action. If they then decide together that this action does constitute a refusal to play by one side, they shall so inform the captain of that side. If the captain persists in the action the umpires shall award the match in accordance with (a)(ii) above.

Now according to Law Umpires should ask the captain before calling off the game . Now the question is did Darrel Hair ask from Inzy ???

Hair has been doing it for so many years and his main targets are Asian teams (dont know if that means he is a racist) so he is a known bully in this field. The interesting aspect about this whole scenario is Fletcher going up to the umpires and asking them to watch out for ball tampering and then even accusing Asif. Now if the ECB get involved in the case, which was previously not the case, then the ODIs might also not be played.

when did fletcher ask the umpires to look at the ball? if he did, why hasnt anyone heard about it. what examples are there of hair being against only/mainly asian teams

Backpages as seen by me on Sky Sports News:

"Asif Accused" - Daily Mail
"Fletcher caught up row over ball tampering" - Independant (link)
"England Triggered Ball Row" - Daily Telegraph

Looks like the Proverbial is going to hit the fan tomorrow...

Here you go, sorry misunderstood some part there, he met with the Match Refree and not the umpires.

read the article in cricket news everyone, its titled, afridi admits tampering

Kid, this article is fake. Can''t imagine how children come to cricket forums !!!

Can someone clarify to me whether the match referee has the power to override the umpires? If the match referee is the guy in charge of the test match ultimately, is appointed by the ICC for doing that, then I dont understand one point. All sources agree that Proctor spoke with the Pakistan team also in order to convince them to come out finally to play when they did. If that is true, then the highest ICC authority at the game, the appointed match referee, obviously thinks the match is NOT forfeit yet, otherwise why the hell he would be trying to talk Inzi into playing?

Hair is incompetent when it comes to every team, not just Asian ones.
Well maybe, although teams tend to target specific umpires for being biased. Indians seems to have something against Steve Bucknor, while Pakistan have even criticised good old David Shepherd in the past.

Like I said we know nothing at the moment to criticise anyone at the moment. Also isnt it obvious that the decision at the Oval was taken by BOTH the umpires and not Hair alone.

I particularly like Hair because he generally gives batsmen out LBW if they dont offer any stroke, even if the ball has pitched slightly outside the leg stump.

Umpires like Billy Bowden and Aleem Dar, all of whom started off well have made some horrific decisions off-late. The only umpire who seems to stand out from the rest is Aussie Simon Taufel.

Billy and Aleem Dar are great umpires. I wouldn't call any other umpire other than Hair incompetent. They have a hard job to do out there and some mistakes are going to happen.

Hair is the current worst on the panel. This can't go on. I mean Hair just can't ever umpire a Pakistan game again. All kinds of hell will break loose. The ICC need to sort it out.

Considering the amount of teams he has pissed off, the ICC may be forced to remove him. The teams could just refuse to play.

The ICC are standing by Hair saying Pakistan cannot choose which umpire they want and they will have to play even if Hair is umpiring. This was off the radio news in NZ.

To Hair's credit it's takes some guts to call someone for chucking or ball tampering.

It does take guts. It takes even more guts to pretty much point at an international team and call them cheaters.

He seemed to treat Inzamam very badly throught this.

in this article Ranatunga pointed out some noticable points against Hair

"Can anyone explain to me why Asian teams suffer when Darrell Hair is the umpire?" Ranatunga told AFP on Monday.

"Hair is a misfit in today's cricket because he acts in a high-handed manner whenever he officiates."

"On that 1995-96 tour of Australia Hair officiated in earlier tour games where Muralitharan played and did not question his action.

"But he chose the Melbourne Test to do it when he knew the whole world was watching.

"He published a book after the Muralitharan controversy, don't be surprised if he comes out with another book now. He needs a platform for himself at the cost of the game.
