rumour has it that either Hogard or Graham Onions will replace Harmison.

Hope graham gets a game know him since we were like 12yrs old, very talented sportman, was a top badminton player before turning to cricket full time

I can't understand how Hoggard or Onions will play tomorrow when they aren't even in the sqaud; That's what the backup players in the squad are for. Hopefully Hoggard, Chapple, Anderson or Onions get called up to the squad in place of Harmison though.

well would n't say he was famous..

its funny i was listen to the radio a few weeks ago when they announced the Champions trophy squad..i knew he'd been taking a lot of wickets in 4-day cricket..but i nearly fell off my chair when i heard his name on the radio..

quite wierd cos i went to school with Nicky Peng too

i meant he might get a call-up..obviously he won't be featuring tomorrow..but he might get a game later in the series..

I mean he can't be any worse than mahmood

Afridi is a liabitlity, he can clear any boundary and cause the opposition captain to tear his hair out, but he will always throw his wicket away, he is far too inconsistent to be a Pakistan regular. He needs to learn how to bat responsibly.

The guy can also bowl. He won some matches cause of his bowling. If he could only bat, he wouldn't be in the team.

Disagree entirely. He is an asset. He did exactly the right thing in that twenty/20. He deserved MOTM. Not only did he up the run rate to make it easy, he took apart the England bowlers. That will give them something to think about. His bowling was very good aside from perhaps one over too.

And besides he is fantastic to watch, you can't leave your seat. His game is to take on the bowlers. If the ball is somewhere where he can hit it, he goes for it.

Mahmood has to go!

Evofan, you keep on saying the same thing about Afridi. The test before he got dropped, he actually outscored most of the Pakistan team, and yes he did 'give' his wicket away in a sense but getting out 'proper' ways instead of 'slogging' shouldn't give you brownie points, unless you have got more runs than the slogger. Right, that even confused me but I know what I mean.

Afridi in ODI's is NO WAY a liability! England would take him in a second! 100 of 37 balls goes alot further to winning a match than 100 off 100 does! He is a great trump card to have, even if he's only in for 15 balls he can make a significant difference, and this is without considering his bowling which makes him even more of an asset!

Anyway, on Broad. He looked very good to be honest. Sure he was at Afridi's peril for an over but he was pretty tidy. The first wicket was a little lucky and Younis Kahn was pretty unlucky to get out in that way but still, he seems to have potential.

Afridi was reasonably unlucky to go out in the end. It was a good catch, he just got it a bit high and not quite far enough. Maybe he should have had a sighter but it was in his hitting zone so you can't blame him for going for it. He is definatly inconsistant, but no player can play that agressivly and be consistant. The Pakistan batting is sound enough to handle him when he doesn't fire and besides, his spin is more than useful.

Yardy didn't impress me too much, just another average spinner really. England were lucky he hit some runs in the end though.

England's batting doesn't look good. Bell is more a test player in my opinion. Strauss could also come under that category.

Afridi is handy in both forms of the game. Hes come of age in the test arena these past few years where he is actually getting 50+ runs and a few wickets. He is made for the ODI arena with his batting and his quick leggies. Pakistan have more than enough batsmen to cover Afridi and hes usually batting in the lower order so he is there to smash it which fits him perfectly.

yardy is a batting allrounder..

Totally agree about Bell, and maybe strauss too..

Bell plays to authodox and is easy to stop him scoring..

I hope we don't bring Hoggy back in the ODI team instead of harmison, i'd rather have Chapple or Onions or someone. Hoggard has had 3 goes at ODI cricket (2002, 04/05, 06/07) and has been very expensive. He just isn't an ODI bowler.

yup hoggy is too predictable, after a few balls you can just line him up and "tee-off".

Afridi has an average 20% lower than Vaughans.

Or am I tempting fate? :D

Yardy is a bowler like Jayasuriya, darts them rather than flights them. Good batsman, has made many a hundred and crucial knock for us.

You just watch Afridi today, he'll get to about 20 and then play a ridiculous shot that will be skyed and caught. His bowling is good, but I don't think it's good enough to rectify his irresponsibility.
