Firstly had the board been down lately?

Good effort by England today, we should've won, had a great chance too.

Asif 9-0-51-0 We attacked in the first 20, plenty of positives for England, I feel Yardy would've been a better choice than Clarke on that pitch though. Well done Younis, great knock. Lewis and JD were good throughout, Broad in his second spell too.

Saj isn't good enough, needs to be dropped now! Tremlett as his replacement, please. Very good record, plus done alright for England so far. Clarke too, can't bowl well enough to be considered an All rounder, better of playing a Genuine batsman.

Well played by Pakistan. Fantastic knock by Younis Khan, Yousuf played really well also but looked a bit uneasy with himself, injured probably. And the ever green Inzy guided us home and some needless wickets given away by the middle order. Poor Afridi decision and Akmal is really having a shocker with the bat.

looked as thouhgh it was a good match, marcus trescothick continues his shocker with the bat with a golden duck, rikki clarke also got a golden duck so i think he should be dropped as his bowling is pritty worthless at the best of times.strauss, bell, collingwodd and darylample all batted well.it was good to see england post a competative total for once but it was there bowling that let them down.lewis and broard bowled well but the others did not.england even had to use kp for 4 overs!but it was a great innings from younis kahn so pakistan deserved it:)

Irottev there is a huge difference between ODIs and Tests, certainly more than just rules.

I'm sorry, I was under the impression that in both tests and ODI's the games objective is to get runs when batting and wickets when bowling? So wheres the difference there?

England arn't getting runs and they arn't getting wickets. Theres the problem. Nothing else! Well at least today they improved tenfold and got both, So its a start, even though they lost at least they challenged and put up a fight. Can they keep it up? They will need more if they want to get to the finals for the champs trophy also.

Anyway, todays performance was paced MUCH better by England. I didn't see their innings but they made a good total and used all their wickets but batted the overs. Well played. Dalrymple and Collingwood seemed to go at a good clip and Strauss FINALLY got some runs on the board during the powerplays, which is needed.

Bowling-wise some was good and some was poor. Mahmood is absolutly useless. He proves it time and time again. The wicket he got was a poor call, which almost cost Pakistan a lot. And then, something which really annoys me, a wicket falls so they change the ball! Why didn't they change it before the wicket fell? Afridi obviously signaled that he couldn't see the thing and Doctrove obviously couldn't see it either. Broad came back well and as a whole bowled reasonably well. Lewis was great again, makes me wonder why hes been on the sideline so long.

But anyway, it was a nice close game in the finish. A good game. Good to see Younis pile on the runs (until he played the risky shot), he was good to watch. Inzy also finishing it off nicely and Yousuf made a good partnership with Younis.

Well played by Pakistan. Deserved it, played well yet again.

Much improve performance by England with both bat and ball. Once again Lewis has done well with the ball and should have a permanent place in the team. Broad bowled well at the end and agreed about Mahmood, I'm sure there are many more able replacements for Mahmood. Tresco to me should be replaced for the remaining 2 ODI's if he is going to India but that is unlikely. Cook should be given a run for the next 2 matches.

Clarke proved once again that he isn't good enough, as did Mahmood and Broad showed that he can do it at this level. Tres is desperatley out of form and hopefully his departure from the CT will prompt an innovative call up of a pinch-hitting opener. Rikki Clarke really was awful yesterday though, at least Saj bowled the odd good ball and had pace.

I was disappointed with this match. I mean it was fun to watch, but I was a bit let down by Pakistan's performance. It was the same old story. Shoddy fielding meant we had to chase a big target, our openers failed along with our lower middle order, and the big three save the day. If we keep this up, there is no way in hell we can think about winning the World Cup.

Asif's figures look disappointing. I have yet to watch the match, the replay will be on tonight. But I've noticed that even when he is being attacked, he's always looking to beat the bat, instead of trying to control the run flow. This is where I believe Razzaq can shine. This match just proves that Asif has much to learn as far as the ODIs go.

Anyway, a win is a win. Good job by Younis, Yousuf, Inzi, Rana, and Akhtar. I'm glad Younis is getting to play in his favorite spot in ODIs as well. He's averging 88 in the last 5 matches in that position.

I watched the end of the match and saw Broad's slower one to Razzaq. Impressive.

Indeed it was; Very well disguised too.

I was more impressed with JD though; A great all-round performance by him as he scored runs with the bat and then dried them up with the ball. Still, my only concern is that he doesn't take enough wickets, although he bowled an absolute corker yesterday to dismiss Yousef.

England really do miss Jimmy in ODI's.

Very nice win from Pakistan. I hope Yousuf is okay to play next match.

Just watching a replay of the 3rd ODI. Younis batted brilliantly, apart from the dropped catch.

LOL, Inzi had to do some running, he was Pakistan's best feilder in my opinion and ran a second run with Mohammed Yousuf, he's doing alright.

It was an Interesting game in my opinion. We did reasonably well with the bat, but I just think that Dalrymple should have attacked slightly earlier, meaning that Clarke and Read would have had more time.

The bowling struggled at the start as well, as all the way through really. Lewis was the only bright spot. I think Broad just about redeemed himself with his last spell, but I wouldn't get too excited about him yet. James Kirtley is the answer in my opinion though, plus he has the experience.

Dissapointed about Trescothick, but I think he needs time to sort his head out and I hope he does. I think it would be stupid to drop him while the series is still alive though.

I don't think Pakistan did deserve it in all honesty, terrible fielding average bowling. We just managed to bowl worse (Mahmood and Clarke)

The difference between getting runs and wickets in ODIs and Tests is huge is the point I'm making.

Tests examine technique, mental ability, concentration. ODIs require flair, knowing how to set a total (Something we rarely do well).

In bowling you can have 5 slips and bowl shorter balls more often whilst setting fields to your liking, in ODIs you need good slower balls, accuracy and of course the yorker.

Some players will be better at one discpline than another, but both formats are completely different, one of the main reasons to my objection of England picking county players based on their four day form.

Plus Pakistan do have more experience. we've played 73 ODIs since the 2003 World Cup, Pakistan will have played 100 minimum in that time.

Shall be interesting to see if we can resume our good game on Tuesday, tomorrow.

2 changes for me.

Yardy and Onions in for Clarke and Saj. Or Yardy and Joyce in for Clarke and Saj if your feeling a bit risky.

Kirtley :cheers

Averages 21 and 22 in Pro40 and C&G respectively. His CC Average is 45ish, so that's probably holding him back for OD selection
