"So what happened recently to Pluto?"

Someone shouts.

"LBW!"

:p

Funnily enough, I often found myself writing things such as;

"And in my investigation on Darwin's Theory of Evolution, I discovered that Sajid Mahmood needs to evolve into a bowler who can bowl a decent line for feck's sake!"

:p

In all seriousness though, if Lewis bowls like he did on Saturday then we have a decent chance, but the batsmen and the other bowlers have to fire from all cylinder's. One or two players can be carried by a team, but a team can't be carried by one or two players.

Do England have a high performance or development centre for young cricketers? They need to prepare some of these county players for Internation cricket. The ones who have potential.

I think Dalrymple is on his way out of ODI cricket to be honest. He doesn't seem to be trusted to keep it tight and his batting has been poor. I'd like to see a straight swop with Yardy in for him to see what he's got. Clarke should play as I think he could do a good job, as his natural length could be what we're looking for in this match. We need a century from either Pietersen or Trescothick with a couple more good knocks to back them up.

Personally I've never been sure about Dalrymple. Neither his batting nor bowling are anything near spectacular for Middlesex. Something to bare in mind, is that if either Giles or Blackwell were fit, he probably wouldn't be getting a look-in.

Although I was an advocate of not playing Monty in the Odis I do now think it could possibly further his development. Having a chance to bowl to the best batsman in World Cricket whilst they try to take him on would stand him in good stead for the Ashes and beyond. Major problem however is that it is very difficult to hide him in the field in a Odi, and whilst he has improved that aspect of his game, he would be an easy run most of the time.

Also Irrotev, they do have the Academy and A sides, but mostly they get involved in the Winter, as County Cricket without the England players and the potential England palyers would be extremely dull.

Clearly it's doing a decent job, as Monty, Ali Cook, Read, and to a lesser extent Mahmood and Plunkett have both been involved in the last year or two. (there are others I'm sure)

you say that england are playing bad and stuff but you have to give credit to pakistan they are playing real well that it is hard for england to be on top of their game when the opposition are playing so well

Who isn't giving credit to Pakistan?

England should still be a better team then this. For some reason they can't perform in ODI's despite having talented players. Strange how they are (arguably) the second best test nation in the world yet can't buy an ODI win. Different rules yes, but its the same game.

In all fairness, i was reading a article in the new Allout Cricket magazine, and its true what was said.

England has 2 or three allrounders, but the teams who win only have 1 or 2 Allrounders who are mainly a batter or bowler, who can do a bit of the other.

England have got to let certain people do there own jobs, Batters are there to knock up runs, and bowlers are there to bowl out sides for less than what the batters but on the board.

Instead now, althought Flintoff is a legend of the game, we are saying that due to his injury we can proform in the ODI arena, but we can.

Kevin Pietersen has been a shambles lately, he's scared of Asif, the pace and the bounce Asif gets from these seam friendly pitches in england is making him wary, but as soon as he pulls his finger out we will be knocking more runs onto the board.

RANT OVER!

Well we have Loughborough University which is where alot go in the off season.

We also have a new spin initiative going. So the bowlers can only bowl spin in the match. They did a section on it on SkySports News the other day. Irionically though it had Giles watching/training.

Irottev there is a huge difference between ODIs and Tests, certainly more than just rules. The ball tampering situation has fired Pakistan up too, they are a cracking team who have 2 weaknesses in ODIs.

Fielding and currently the form of Akmal with the gloves, he's done better in the ODIs than tests though.

I think there is a certain doubt over Pakistan, although it's mainly because our bowlers haven't been good enough to put us in the right situation.

I think if Pakistan go to 100-5 after say 20 overs (hypothetically) then I'd have doubts over Akmal, Afridi and Razzaq getting the runs. Sure they're all capable, but under that pressure they could fold. Obviously the problem is getting them 100-5 in the first place.

utter garbage....2 poor one day innings and u forget the run-a-ball 96 he made in the last test..

The way KP play he's always likely to get ot doing something stupid..

As for being afraid of Asif's pace.. (LOL) he smashed Brett Lee all over the Oval last year..he was bowling 95mph....so i doubt he gives two hoots about Asif's pace..

Had you mentioned Asif's good line and length, then i would have taken you seriosuly..
