No official statement has been given; but Andrew Flintoff is said to be ruled out for 12 weeks, which will rule him out of the entire summer and the Champions Trophy. This might be a blessing in disguise because he'll be fresh for the Ashes, but I can't see England winning this Test series against Pakistan now.

Why on earth did we have to rush Fred back?

in my opinion England are still favorites to win this series, they still have Hoggard and Harmison, 2 of their frontline bowlers. Pak wont win this series if Shoaib or Asif dont come back for this test series

batting of the 2 teams is very even cuz Pakistan's openers are very weak.

Yep, both your openers are left handed too, which is what Hoggard loves. But you are underestimating Pakistan's chances; the fast bowlers you have available aren't that good, but your middle order is outstanding and you have two good spinners. Shahid Afridi bowled a 78mph ball in the first test, which is a really good surprise delivery to have.

We didn't rush him back. He was left out of the first test despite being thought fit by many and was given a CC match to prove his fitness.

The problem is that the ECB knew of the bone fragments weeks ago.

Looking at the Durham vs WIndies A scorecard, Plunkett didn't finish an over, Anyone know if he is injured?

Charles Colville said on the live Pro40 coverage that he had pulled a muscle or something; It didn't sound too serious though.

If Chapple is fit it wouldn't bother me if he was unfit.

Yep, I'd rather Chapple be in the squad over Plunkett any day. The fact that Chappers hasn't played a single test for England yet is ridiculous.

Ah well, England's loss is Lancashire's gain.

He's a good fielder and a safe pair of hands too.

Looking at them stats makes me even more bemused as to how he hasn't played a test match yet.

As you have often said Sureshot, our selectors aren't the best; Ashes 2005 aside.

Why do I have to answer so many stupid comments :(, anyway here I go, put them in bits, Mr. Irshaad A.K.A Mr. cephalalgia

Maybe it will be a good idea to have the legendary allrounder "imran Farhat" keep the wickets for Pakistan. One of the reason as to why Pak went to Eng with just one keeper was that they knew that in an emergency, they always have the option to opt for the safe hands of Sir Immi Farhat.
To start off, I don't know what hell you are talking about,

Pak pace attack is probably the worse ever, Sami is absolute garbage, Umar is at best mediocre while Anjum is not of test standard.

Maybe Pak should give the youngster in Niazi a chance, don't see how he can fare poorer than Sami.

Pakistani pace attack is not the worse, if it was they wouldn't be second in test and 3rd in ODI ranking, they are going though a bad time which every does at some point. Looking at how Niazi played Northamptonshire, Imran Farhat played better then him bowling & batting

Imran Farhat 5 1 15 2 3.00

I also wanted to say something off topic, are you really a Pakistani? because you don't sound like one.

He may say some derogratory stuff about his national team, but a lot of what he says make sense; Without Akhtar and Rana Naved, Pakistan's pace attack is not very impressive and isn't going to inflict fear into the opposition.

If so there is no way you can call it 'worse', and thats my point.

It's definitley not the worst ever bowling attack; it's far from it, but you have to admit that it isn't that good either. Mohammed Sami averages 40+ with the ball, which is just not good enough for a pace bowler at any level.

You could call it the WORST ;)

Don't read too much into scores and performances into tour matches.

Yeah, Chris Read scored a 150 last week in a tour match and he didn't even get close to an England call up!:p
