With me that performance albeit in a farcical match (from Kevs POV) it still said to me that he is good enough, averaging 50 since his last England game? Safest pair of hands in world cirkcet? And he's still nto good enough.

Yep, Read is overdue an England place. Jones has 3 tests left to score a 100 before the Ashes, and unless he does something miraculous with the bat, his average will still be less than 30 which isn't good enough. Ironically, Jones's keeping has improved but his batting has no doubt gone downhill. Jones will probably go to the Ashes, and that doesn't bother me much because i'm a fan of his, but Read should be in the squad now; he should at least be given a chance.

Yeah, Chris Read scored a 150 last week in a tour and he didn't even get close to an England call up!:p
According to at least one person on this performance, scoring 18 before getting out the same way you get out most of the time is a better innings than an unbeaten 150.

Sureshot if you call current bowling worse, well the worse bowling made it draw . Common just understand the point and get on with it.

Of course! 18 swept out is a lot better than a crappy unbeaten 150 against the same team! :p

Even the weather seems to be against Read too; Notts were live today so he had the chance to show the watching public how good he is, but before he could bat a storm breaks out!

Our bowling is nowhere near as good as it would've been if Akhtar, Rana, and Asif were all fit. At the moment, our bowling attack is at the worst we've had it in more than a year. Only bright spots are Kaneria and the sudden bursts of genius Razzaq has.

Its definetely not a good, or a threatning attack, but its not the worst one. Lets not forget they were also let down by the fielding

and oh by the way, our bowling attack still managed to get more wkts than England did in the first test :p

I love those sudden Bursts. Its like out of nowhere, Razzaq takes a wicket. :D

I'm delighted that Dalrymple gets his Test chance, but i'm not delighted that Glen Chapple still misses out! He's a lot better that Plunkett.

I was correcting your spelling mistake, and you've still kept spelling it wrong :D

Read the posts correctly next time ;) And it was in jest.

JD will only play if monty breaks down or OT is going to be a spinner.

Plunkett still has a side strain and is likely to miss out as they don't heal quickly and the last thing we need is a half fit bowler in a 4 pronged attack. I'd opt for Lewis, another 10for. Not just an early season bowler.

Worse bowling? england didn't bowl badly on the last day. Two and a half sessions to bowl a team like pakistan out with yousuf and inzi on a flat track isn't exactly easy. So think about that before calling our bowling crap.

I heard bumble say Lancashire has been lightning fast and bouncy lately, so i'd opt for Saj as hes sort of like harmison and he should do well on his home ground.

I agree; The Twenty20 game at OT the other week had an absolute belter of a pitch; it was hard, fast and bouncy but was still a good pitch to score runs on. I'd play Mahmood definitley, he wasn't too bad in Tests and he will be used to OT pitches.
