He's been waiting since 1996 when he should have first played for England.

Indeed. The fact that Glen has only bowled four overs in an England shirt is absolutley ridiculous. I know he's 32 now, but he should still be in that squad ahead of Plunkett.

I know we know chapple should be playing, the selectors just don't seem to recognise him. I didn't know how good chapple was until about a nmonth ago.

An interestign article on Cricinfo saying how Darylample should play instead of Bell, as we need another bowler. Steve Waugh also said how we took things too casualy, which i totally agree with.

For God's sake Plunkett's injured now! Sorry for the blasphemy, but this injury situation is taking the ssip!

Even worse, the selectors are considering bringing in Dalrymple for Plunkett and dropping Panesar! If ever there was an ideal situation for a Chappers call-up then this is it.

It seems Pakistan are injury ravaged as well; Afridi hurts his bowling arm in training and is now an injury doubt for the second test.

From what i've heard they might drop Bell for Darlyample and bring in Mahmood/Lewis. Hopefully they do that because dropping Monty would be criminal.

Agreed, but I feel awfully sorry for Bell. Dalrymple deserves his chance though and Mahmood should perform well at Old Trafford. If Afridi is injured then that is a big bonus to England, but from a neutral perspective, I want to see him play.

Without Freddie, England have to take a chance on Dalrymple. They need a decent allrounder, and he showed signs of becoming one on the International stage in the ODI series, when everyone else was loosing their heads.
It would be a shame if Mahmood's England career stalled on a bad note, and i think performing on his home turf, but the crowds at Old Trafford can get notoriously edgy, and a poor performance from him could get the crowd on his back in a time when he needs a lift.

Although Dalrymple is a good all-round cricketer, he isn't a pace bowler, so he isn't a like-for-like replacement for Fred. I want him in the team as a batsman, and as I have said before, I want Chapple in to replace Plunkett.

If Monty is dropped it's massively negative, JD is a decent spinner but he's a container like Giles but alot better.

With our depleted bowling attack dropping Monty is just saying to Inzi and Co, come on we're not bothered about winning.

Yep I agree with you; dropping Monty is not the way to go, he's a better spinner than Dalrymple and he still didn't trouble Inzi that much. If Dalrymple plays he should replace Bell, but for my 3rd post in a row i'm going to say:

GET CHAPPLE IN!! It's his home ground too for God's sake!

Did anybody hear anything on Pietersen getting injured? I was just watching GeoTV but had the volume turned down, I heard them say something about an injury and then showed Pietersen. I missed the part where they said who was injured. They'll show a repeat in a half hour but I won't be home then.

I hope he's not injured! It may have been talking about Plunkett being injured but then the camera panned onto Plunkett; this is likeley because the England players were training at Old Trafford today.

Also, some good news regarding injury for England, Jimmy is back bowling. Although it's very light, he is improving and looks increasingly likely to make the Ashes squad.

Juast watch ARY News, nothing about Pieterson being Injured. Afridi will be fit in 2 days.

Which isn't that useful Pakistan. He'll probably play, but bowl less.
