Suprises me you say kick Sami out. I know he has a poor record, but after watching him at Old Trafford on the first two days I felt he bowled pretty well. Especially bowling with the second new ball. Gul has been the most impressive though.
Sami was impressive against only GoJo. Need I say more....

I never said Sami doesn't have what it takes to be a good bowler. The problem is that he is sort of our GoJo, he takes one important wicket a match, and he gets another chance, he bowls one good delivery out of 10, he gets another over, only because he is fast. There are bowlers in our squad right now who deserve a chance ahead of Sami. Gul showed his class under pressure, he hasn't bowled like this since India's tour of Pakistan in 2004. Razzaq is crucial until either Asif or Shoaib come back. So Sami has got to go.

Besides, I don't see him doing much damage in the next match if the pitch is in fact green.

I remember that Pakistan used to have such fine bowlers like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and even Shoaib Akhtar. These days they are replaced by such average bowlers as Umar Gul, who is improving all the time but just isn't in the same league as those.
We still have some class bowlers in Asif and Rana Naved, both of them would kick some serious butt on a green pitch. Pakistan must've done something to anger the gods of cricket.

Razzaq was the worst bowler at Old Trafford, he doesn't use his head when bowling. If he bowled the way he did at OT at Headingly, then the English batsmen will be licking their lips.

Asif should come back next game, that probably means, Sami will have to go.
Really? Cricinfo says he is aiming for the fourth test.

True. But the way Pakistanis are going, we need his batting. I know I sound like an English selector, but I love how he can pace his inning. Plus, he has a pretty decent record bowling on green pitches, remember Karachi earlier this year?

I hope Shoaib and Asif play, then we can have a great time with the ball.

Even if they play I won't be too concerned; Match fitness is very importnat and they will have hardly any.

yes Shoaib is probably fit by now, and Asif is getting fit.

Sureshot you quoted my post wrong.I haven't said this mate.Maybe you forgot. :p

Some people asked about the Headingly pitch. It is very much governed by the weather. If it's bright sunshine batsman normally love it, if there is any cloud cover, the ball starts to swing all over the place.

As an England fan, we can but hope the groundsman tries his hardest to prepare a similar track to Old Trafford and get Monty and Harmy in amongst the wickets again.

If however there's a bit of cloud cover, expect Hoggy to come into his own.

It would be fantastic if the pitch supported all 3 of those bowlers. Hoggard seems to have lost a bit of form, so I want him to take a hatful of wickets at Headingley.

then changing the subject, get geriant jones back for the 4th test :D but if hoggard bowled like he did lst year in the ashes at one of the grounds when he was swinging it all oxer the place, the match is englands ( i think the ground was headingley ) not sure though

Gul is Pakistan's fourth Pace Bowler, comes fourth in the pecking order after Shoaib, Naved, and Asif. He's excellent for No. 4.

Will be a shame if they don't play. Pakistan has played without all their Strike bowlers so far.

Kudos to the Pakistan fans for not whining and moaning.
