He has had time to prove himself in the team and frankly he hasnt left the impression. Sadly he was always going to be replaced unless he pulled out a career shaping performance like a double hundred in a team where no one else scored 50.

Bell? He made a good hundred (pretty quick compared to the rest) and was playing very well in the second innings, before struass ran him out. I agree with the others drop plunkett and play flintoff. Plunkett looked very boring and out of ideas, just bowling wide or lots of bouncers.

And usy stop saying iqbal should be dropped and not farhat, just because you like farhat doesn't mean you can waste peoples time by saying farhats good whens hes not..

Tbf to Iqbal they way he lost his wicket in the first innings was unfortunate.

A) One of Harmisons special balls.
B) One of the great test catches dismissed him.

I can't see Plunkett being dropped, although I agree full on with Andrews team (Colins also).

KP started out as a bowler and clearly is good enough not as a full time spinner but maybe in a role similar to Dilshan or maybe Jayasuriya.

The one that turned against Inzy :D

England didn't help themselves, But I still feel that even if we had 4 sessions we might have struggled, it was a gorgeous pitch to bat on.

I don't think there is a 'might' about it. :p
I agree with Drewska. It would make more sense to drop Plunkett instead of Bell. Or to make the selectors jobs easier, I could surgically amputate Freddie's limbs. :cutit

Imran Farhat has proved himself to be a better opening batsman that Salman Butt. If anyone needs to be dropped, it's Butt because of his recent poor form. But with Younis Khan coming back into the team, Iqbal will most likely be left out of the next match. Perhaps Taufeeq Umar will replace Butt?

Agreed. He played a very gritty 48 when Pakistan needed him to, and as I said he handled Monty pretty well when Inzi and MoYo struggled against him. Of course Monty was the man to dismiss him. :p

I don't think they'll drop butt because hes an established member of the team, farhat is yet to prove himself. I rather they dropped butt though cos it helps england :p.

Butt has been in terrible form since we played England last year. I don't see him doing any damage to England's bowling attack.

Another note.

Hoggard bowled 4 balls to Lefties today and took 2 wickets in those 4 balls :D

Butt might have beeen a bit unlucky. Hard to tell when the ball is swinging and Hawkeye isn't an exact Science.

Take it from a dedicated Pakistani fan: Salman Butt is pants. :p
Imran Farhat, on the other hand, is a young player who looks good for the future. This is the first time he's playing in England, so he's allowed to make a few mistakes- Pitches here are very different compared to the ones in Asia.

He'd still be better than most pace bowlers! :p

Yeah I agree with the Flintoff swapping with Plunkett debate. There is no way our selectors would ever do anything that adventorous though.

Well of course. He would get massive swing when bowling with his tongue. :)

Anyway, looking forward to the warm-up match. Would love to see who replaces Sami.

England will get much stronger now with Flintoff comming back, so Pakistan need to watch out! I wish we could get one of our bowlers backk, but its good to get Younis Khan back atleast.

Personally I wouldnt have minded getting the U-19 WC Final hero Anwar Ali to have a go in the swinging conditions in England... good experience, enthusiasm of youth, and no way in hell can he be any worse than that idiot Sami. With Shoaib and Rana out injured, Shabbir out probably for good, we are playing our fourth choice bowlers anyways. Sami has had more than enough chances and it just seems he has some massive blackmail material on all the selectors that they are not dropping him for good.

And for the people asking for Butt to be replaced by Taufeeq Umar, I really think we need to negate Hoggard with a right hander and a right/left combo up front. Maybe Faisal can open? I really wouldnt want Akmal in that position since he needs to concentrate on keeping and he provides more stability in the tail.

Farhat
Iqbal
Younis
Yousuf
Inzi
Razzaq
Afridi
Akmal
Asif
Niazi
Kaneria

How's that team?
