Pakistan v Australia in England, June-July 2010

Sami was an awful test bowler; he played over 30 odd matches and averaged 50 with the ball.

Looking at his stats, he does seem to be a much better OD player than a 4/5 day player, 118 @ 28 in OD's, and 84 @ 50. Although his domestic averages seem to be similar at 30 and 27 respectively.

Given his abysmal Test record makes up almost a third of his first class record, it's perhaps surprising that it isn't higher.

Hilfenhaus :hpraise That's why we pick him, he's just got that X-Factor on swinging decks which makes him a real handful.

I would have Hilfenhaus' babies :/

Gotta love seeing him back with the fist pump jump. Now we just need Siddle back running in hard :)

Seriously for someone who is so overtly statistical in every post you haven't realized that Watson averages over 50 when opening the batting in tests.

Yeah, because I make a point of looking at everyone's averages in all forms of crickets :sarcasm Perhaps instead of just noting I post statistics, you might also have noted that they are principally about ENGLISH players ;)

He's played 32 innings and scored one hundred, hardly conclusive either way anyway. There was a reason I was surprised, last November his average was just 26.16............................. and I don't keep tabs on aussie progress. That said I may have seen his average since, but either way I would be surprised if he is your best opener

Owzat added 3 Minutes and 36 Seconds later...

I feel bad for Bollinger. He is facing short balls from Gul. Already two hit him.

Don't. The aussies didn't and don't worry about doing it to England batsmen, like back in 93 any time Caddick hung around he'd be peppered with short stuff until short leg got a catch or he got hit.

It is supposedly illegal, but the umpires don't adequately apply the laws regarding the ability of a batsman and short pitched bowling. Seems to be open season, even in ODIs it can be simply applying two short for the over and no regard for the law to which I refer

We used to bounce the hell out of Robert Croft too.

We lost 20 overs yesterday, and are due to lose about the same number again today, so when will overs be made up for the day? As far as I know there was no early start today (inexplicably).

Great that Hilfy's back and firing! The only thing stopping him ATM is the bloody English weather.

Firstly I'm not Australian and regardless of whether you only keep tabs on English players its pretty silly to say something without actually looking how well he has done opening the batting.

The only reason I noted that you overtly use stats is because you stats blast people with extremely long winded posts full of stats that most people just skip. Instead of overwhelming us with stats you could try and break things down and comment on how well/badly someone is doing as stats isn't the be all and end all for example look at King Pietersen's posting very detailed with stats without going over the top.
