Pakistan vs England Jul-Aug-Sep 2010

He used to be an opening batsmen until aged 16 or 17 when he had a massive growth spurt and someone suggested he tried bowling.

Pakistan look really tired now. I think the 7 test matches in a 6 week period has really caught them up here.

They've only played six Tests with not all/many of them lasting five days. Yousuf and several others haven't played all the Tests, it's a bit of an excuse and not a good one :noway

Depressing to think that there have been as many posts in this thread since the fixing story broke, as there were during the first 3 days of the match.

It would go a long way to explaining the one-sided nature of the series, but I think it's more sad that this thread and others are so relatively dead. After a day's cricket there may only be a handful of posts, go on a football forum after a 90 minute match and there will be more posts having occured during the match

re 'fixing' and records

So three no balls might have been predetermined no balls, how exactly does that undermine the records/England batting?!?!? Did the batsmen get out off of them?!?

Gambling really should be banned worldwide, I guess it won't be because it generates too much $$$$$ like smoking. There is plenty of (causes of) evil in the world, money and religion are the biggest two

Firstly, I have no sympathy for these players anymore. The only people I feel bad for are the Pakistani fans and cricket fans in general.
The root of all this is the PCB. You just cannot hand out life bans and then have it overturned conveniently. They`ve done this for doping offences, match fixing scandals, ball tampering, team disunity and what not. It sends out the message to the youngsters that they can get away with any damn offence. Pakistan cricket was going through a tough time with teams not touring Pakistan and I felt bad for that but this is an all-time low , even by Pakistan cricket standards. I don`t want the Lords test to go ahead because this is`nt test cricket , is this. I hope the MCC clampos down and calls for the game not to go ahead today. To have all this done at Lords, the spiritual hope of the game is even worse.

This is an utter disgrace to international cricket. Cricket does not need any more scandals, at a time we are looking to build the game and promote it.

I would`nt care if they get banned from the World Cup either. For God`s sake, let the PCB not hand out bans this time around. It should be the ICC who should come down hard on this.

Azharuddin was one of the greats that Indian cricket produced but when he was found guilty, he was banned for life and that ban has`nt been over-turned till now while Salim Malik got his ban ended when arguably Malik and Latif was the root of all evils (read Steve Waugh`s autobiography). The BCCI and Indian cricket draws a lot of flak for a lot of things but I don`t think anything of this sort would happen in Indian cricket. Part of the problem is that the seniors in the Pakistani side are`nt angels themselves while India`s golden generation of cricketers like Sachin, VVS, Dravid, Kumble and Co have all had careers of great integrity. Only Inzamam is someone I feel was a man of integrity among all the seniors these youngsters looked upto.

That's what I mean. I shudder to think that Test cricket is only viable as long as stupid things happen.

Its just a sad day for cricket! absolute madness! Here we were heralding a new age of exciting test cricket from Pakistan, only to learn now they might have been fixed :facepalm

Yes TumTum, England- Pakistan played with wickets bent at a 45 degree angle :sarcasm

What if Pakistani players were raising money for flood victims? :p

On a more serious note, the ramifications of this will certainly shake faith in Pakistani Cricket even further.

I can't wait to see the crowd reaction. Especially when Amir and Asif come out to bat.

I doubt its going to be pretty.

Poor Azhar Ali. He's going to walk out there to bat, and will probably get booed, for something he had no part of.

One of the Akmals will be joining him...

I hope the crowd and English players humiliate the players responsible for this so much that they are seen crying when they get out.

I hope they cheer Azhar Ali as he walks out to the pitch and marks his guard, and support every run he scores because he's been playing honestly and trying his best.

For Kamran Akmal...I hope the English bowlers try to knock his head off. Beamers FTW.

BTW who are those 7 bastards? I know the names of 6 of them but who is 7th?I Hope its not Ajaml :upray.
  1. K.Akmal
  2. Butt
  3. Asif
  4. Amir
  5. Umer Amin
  6. Wahab Riaz
  7. ??????
