Pakistan vs New Zealand @ UAE 2009

the word sensible just doesn't seem to exist in pakistan.

this has wafted between brilliant shot-making and absolutely diabolical cricket.

NZ have bowled well though, just not entirely sure whether it would have made all that much difference if they hadn't, pakistan would have still found ways to get out.

Which pretty much makes them the most exciting team to watch. Other than SA matches, I don't watch other matches. I'll look at the scorecard, and read up on the match, and watch the highlights if I get a chance. But, I actually watch all Pakistan matches. Because they are such a pleasure to watch sometimes. You just don't know what you will get out of them. How people can't support them is out of my mind. They play so unsensibly, and brilliantly sometimes that I'm just taken in awe by them.

Well Pakistan just dominated this thing. Great performance by Afridi and Kamran Akmal with the bat. Salman Butt failed again so he could find him self on the bench soon.
Great performance with the ball too, Ajmal and Aamer really stood out.

any other post saying how NZ bowlers > Pak bowlers ?? or how they are 2nd best? or how Miles could walk into aus rsa team

:sarcasm

Prize for the most boring ODI innings in history goes to that Khalid guy, 2 boundries in his 60 odd at a strike rate of 57. This guy can single handedly kill ODI cricket.

Boeta Dippenar and Katich used to be.

ended up being a good innings for the team. They lost Younis and Butt quick time and he had to play for his wicket. He has a brilliant List A record and looks to be a really good opener for the future.

Not really. He played to the context of the match. He needed to stay there, and he supported Afridi perfectly. Wickets fell around him, and but beig the set batsman he made sure someone was there to keep taking the singles and giving the strike to Afridi/Akmal.

Also by seeing his List A record he bats pretty aggressive. 9 hundreds and 3 fifties. I've never seen a conversion rate like that. Plus he has a 204* in a List A match. Seems like a free flowing player. Would like to see more of him in his attacking mode. One of his fours of Bond was just all class as well. Hitting it over the top. Perfect timing and everything. Never seen a shot like that played off Bond.

Hopefully the other 2 games won't be as boring. Pak seems too good for NZ.

Did not get to actually see the innings, just saw the scorecard on cricinfo. Waiting for highlights,

Good innings in context or not, still looks very boring on paper. Maybe the highlights will prove different.

Not surprised we lost. Even when I went to bed at like 30-2 after 12 overs. Butler needs to be cut asap. I didn't want him in this squad nor team. Vettori screwed up by not giving Bond another early over or else bringing him back quickly. Nathan McCullum probably only played because we have 2 other bowler injuries, but that's unimpressive figures to say the least. Death bowling was a disgrace also. We missed Mills big time.

I think when a slogging hack like Afridi gets runs you have to accept that he got lucky.
