Pakistan vs New Zealand @ UAE 2009

Yeah IMO, Mills and Franklin in...
Two of N. McCullum, Butler and Southee out.

Good win there by Pakistan. It was a no show from NZ's batsman apart from Redmond and Vettori - who right now I probably rate as New Zealand's best batsman.
NZ bowled well at the start but were unable to maintain the pressure and from there Afridi and Akmal were able to guide Pakistan to a good total.

How much longer can Vettori carry the batting side. Surprised it has not affected his bowling yet. Man is a seriously tough character yet so composed and collected without being overly aggressive.

Most deffo one of my favorite players, also the glasses kick ass.

Pleased with the result. We made some opening changes again. Latif looks composed and his innings is much better then it looked. Though I am disappointed that he couldnt rotate the strike as much as he could have. The Kiwis were on song early on and 200 would have been amazing but Afridi showed us the class he really can be. Akmal played a vital innings in the end, but really didnt understand the reason that he was batting so low down the order. I think no.3 is the best position for him. Bond was brilliant in his first spell but in the next 2 was horrible.

New Zealand didnt obviously bat well, but that may have been due to the pressure, of chasing a total in excess of around 100 then they could have stopped the Pakistanis too. NZ need to improve alot, if they are to stay competitve. FINALLy we used the batting powerplay to perfection as the last couple of games we only use it in the last 5.

BTW is "New Zealanders" a proper word, Waqar Younis mentioned it more than a few times, but we know how good his English really is

Yep .........

A very well deserve win by Pakistan, though again opening problem is still going on and on my opinion there is no way to plead for genuine openers.
You have lots of Middle order players which can bat may be try malik or umer akmal.
Bowling was perfect as usual, like the way how all from fast to spin just demolishes the NZ side.
As for NZers there whole XI is just one man Vettori and you can't win a match with just one player no matter how brilliant he is.
Now I think all those my dear friends out here will be able to know that why all rate Pakistan's bowling and why we are one of the best in the bowling department, probably the best in all ongoing squads.
NZ should have to stop relaying on Bond and Vettori because still all the teams have 30 overs to hit you out of the game.

Opening with Malik doesn't seem like too bad of a idea. He seems to be the best at 2,3,4 and only one of those is open at this moment. He has all the skills necessary to make a solid opener. Worth a shot with nobody else able to claim a opening spot.

Well we don't really have much choice but to rely on those two. We're a small country with not much depth. With the number 1 ranked ODI bowler injured as well as Tuffey and Franklin there's not much else we can do about it.

Same with the batsmen. Ryder and Elliot who have been some of our best performers in ODI cricket lately. I'm not blaming injuries for us losing, but it's hard not to rely on a few players with so many injuries. We don't really get a say in it.

Yes, they rely much on Bond and the captain, Oram is a good all rounder, but he is injured, batting wise Taylor is very destructive batsman but he lacks consistency

taylor is becoming a bit of a headache for NZ. He's clearly their second most talented middle order batsman (behind Ryder) but it's getting a bit tiring seeing him fire a good half century then follow it up with single figure scores and ducks.

He plays so well in the IPL but when it comes to international duty he fails to fire...

Have to remember their are a number of pie chuckers in the IPL and Champions League and Ross will take them apart with ease you only have to look back at what hes done in our domestic comp. Even so I think we are being a bit harsh on him hes saved us in a number of games when the rest of the top order has failed and he has not been in bad form for that long unlike McCullum and Oram who really need to start standing up.

Malik cannot play the swinging ball to save his life.

Please, don't send him to open. In fact, don't play him in the team :)

Agreed. Malik was humiliated by Kulasekara when he started swinging the bowl in the SL series. Though he deserves to be in the middle order but i guess the lobbying thing was true. There seems to be no other reason why he was dropped

Oram is a good Allrounder? Not in my opinion. I have no idea why he is in the squad. Seems to do nothing special in every game he plays

Taylor is without doubt the best NZ batsman. The pressure of the whole middle order falls on him every time NZ starts badly and that happens every other game. The reason to his T20 success is that he has much freedom and thus expresses his self much better. It may be a risk, but I wouldnt really mind Vettori telling Taylor to have a go at Pakistan, regardless of the situation.

whatever New Zealand do they need to get some of the pressure of Vettori and soon.

As a West Indies fan I saw what John Dyson did to that team and the confidence he brought to the team. New Zealand need to look at this guy closely and see if he gives them what they need and want because he is a really good coach.
