Patch 3 Requests/Wishlist

There would be an absolutely minimal overlap between the amount of people buying the game and those who would be aware of the promises of future patches. I doubt it was a significant factor in the purchasing decisions for more than a handful of people.

If you were complaining about the lack of Co-op, then that would be more significant, that's a direct promised feature that hasn't been delivered. Otherwise - what are the exact things that people are buying the game for and not getting?

I certainly think that on PC/PS3/360 there aren't any urgent bug fixes - bugs and plenty of things that need work, but rarely are there things that break the game. On PS4/Xbox One, it's another matter - there's some game breaking bugs there, which I expect are the priority right now. The problem is that until they fix it and get the patch through the submission process, all they can say is 'coming soon' with no date and no real answers.

They could come on here, give an excuse for not patching it yet and get yelled at a bit, but what do they gain from that?

There is very little point of them coming on here and interacting on the matter, but a clear and direct statement might be worth something.

The point though is that we're a year on and still awaiting promised features alongside that patch 3. That's my only point on the matter. I'm confident they'll deliver eventually, but it isn't a great look at this point.

honestly, that's nonsense - you have no evidence that they are not supporting the game. the fact that a patch has not yet been released does not mean that the patch is not being worked on. @Ross has confirmed relatively recently that Patch 3 is in ongoing development alongside a sequel. It's no secret that Ross and I have not always seen eye to eye but seriously, what part of his previous conduct on this forum leads you to think that statement was false? (additionally, you have seen @MattW confirm that an issue on xbox one is needing to be looked at separately, is a separate patch from "patch 3" and the submission process of that fix is holding everything up - the very fact that the game is still being supported is evidence to you that support has evaporated, which is slightly bizarre.)

The support has evaporated. That is not an exaggeration or a misrepresentation from what I can tell. When was the last patch for each of the versions? It's all well and good that they're "working" on it, but "working" on something doesn't amount to support until something has been put out. I don't doubt that they're working on patch 3 and various other things, my only point on the matter is that it's taking a long time. Far longer than would reasonably be expected.

this game was in development for years... patch 3 is almost certainly to be the last major support patch (they always said about an 18 month support cycle), and is hopefully broad in scope so the idea that the patch would/could come quickly betrays a serious misunderstanding of software development.

Whether or not the game was in development for years is on their side, not the consumer side. The point is that this patch has been "coming" for what is now the best part of a year. When did they always say an "18 month support cycle" though, I'd be interested in a source for that one, as I don't recall it at the time.

BA take a couple of weeks away from social media and the conspiracy theories fly.

I wonder how often they would have to post "The patch is still in development: announcement to follow" to satisfy everyone?
An auto-tweet set up every 24 hours should do it. :)

the issue is we're now a year on, the support has evaporated, with no patch 3 to speak of, a game which is good, not "AMAZING" in that all caps way you seem to love.

AWESOME citation required...

"Support has evaporated" has to be one of the most melodramatic things you've posted yet. ...and you've posted a lot.

yes, it would be great if there was a bit more communication at present, but equally we had a couple of years of daily engagement from the CEO of a developer pre and post release - that was never going to be sustainable.

This guy gets it.

No CEO of any reputable company is going to log in PC.net/org/bin/exe everyday just to appease a tiny minority and go "hang in there guys" or "coming early september" or... oh wait.... oh... hang on.... oh... nevermind....

OK so its cool to log on here , read about everything thats being tried to fix and better your game , and just ignore all the community requests and log out , day after day , without even giving a mere second to point people in a certain direction or hint and stuff that is actually being worked on.

Thats just Piss Poor , no two way about it , irrespective of the great game they`ve given us , even the lowly ranked @fiction could at least acknowledge and pass on some words of wisdom from his wise masters...

Lets just hope they get back onto the horse and deliver on the promised land....

Sorry mate but this is piss poor.......and pretty poor piss at that.....

Seems to be different feelings on things right now. Acid Burn, Alberts and some others, who feel the lack of Patch 3 right now is unfair and letting everyone down.

Then there's Dutch, Biggs and Snowy who tend to run completely opposite to that who're fine with where things are at right now. I was going to put Matt in this category, but he manages to always be polite and refrain from sarcasm, despite being equally tested by contrary opinions.

Finally there's blocker (and a few others I can't remember right now) who do seem to me to be in the middle ground really. In that they do find that the wait is long, but are hoping that some info comes through on some fairly crucial fixes soon.

For me I'm probably closest aligned to blocker. I do really want Patch 3. I feel it's needed, on console in particular for a variety of reasons. Not just co-op, but there are some other key issues needing addressed. The slow jogging fielders for no reason, the super sprinters who still make appearances, the ridiculous AI at times, the stats showing hundreds of wickets for small tourneys and many others. The enjoyment of the game can be affected by some of the bugs still there, so to me it's not just a bonus, it's necessary.

I don't however feel that Big Ant are ruining the public perception of themselves and the game. It would be a very small minority who feel that way and you're going to get a minority who feel that there should be a Patch 4 too, so it's not like you can please everyone all the time. As shown earlier in this thread, there's information just over a month ago that shows that Patch 3 is going to be worked further on and will be released, so aside from small updates on progress I don't think we need to worry about it too much just now.

It would be great if once in a while someone popped their head up to say something like "hey just so you guys know we've managed to fix the xxxxx problem, but that's all we have time for just now". Although that's fraught with the possibility of people popping up saying, "So, that's all you've fixed?", "Wasn't there more important things to get to like xxxxx?" and many more. I think they're very busy right now and probably don't want to deal with the potential negative feedback if an information release doesn't satisfy people.

Anyhow, I have another issue with the game (for the true purpose of the thread). This came up in my World Cup with 6 mates playing. It's take a lot of playing 2 player games to make sure of this, but we're as sure as we can be.

Sometimes the umpires don't give actual wides (the batsman staying on middle and leg and it going outside the mark before the front crease). This doesn't bother us, the human error side of things with umpires is kind of cool. It's just that this can be very unfair in a 2 player game as we all started to notice that (over a 15 over game) it'll be very strict and correct on one team and give every wide and then for the other side it'll let go around 3-5 deliveries that are clearly wides. Would be nice if this was even for each side. Has had an effect on outcomes and just thought I'd mention it.

I still come here every day and if there is something I deem urgent then I respond.

Fact is we made a loss on DBC but I made a promise to make patch#3 and make it free - to keep that promise, especially it being free, I cannot sustain a large team on DBC and so it is taking longer.

Dates are not something we can be certain of even with a full dev team, all dates in this business are estimations and the smaller the budget you have the more it's likely to be wrong (you can't throw money to fix issues to stay on time).

I have kept every promise to date and will keep this one as well.

Thanks Ross. Always good to hear from you and hopefully this response will at least keep the "is there actually going to be a patch" comments silent for at least a couple of months, because for most of us have always been confident of that. Time-frame wise though, I'm okay with waiting, as I'm hoping to have an oval ball game to play in 2-3 months...:yes

I'm compelled to ask but perhaps if the admin guys here set up a thread which no-one else could reply in to bother you and every week or three you could put up a small bit of info of something that has been sorted out or debugged for Patch 3. Just a thought.

@Ross, thanks for the update. maybe not the time/place and may also be a touch insensitive to respond to news of you making a loss with a "how does this affect me?" type post, but does that loss impact the likelihood of a sequel or is that still going ahead?[DOUBLEPOST=1430951588][/DOUBLEPOST]
Hahaha. I think I might be older...... (though I hope not). So, how old? Tell us all blocker!
The birth certificate says 34, the left knee says 84, the ever expanding girth and receding hair says at least 45 and the mind says about 12...

Shhhh!! Announcing all of those stats in public could get you selected for England!

I've just hit the big 4-0 myself a month ago. I haven't had anyone offer to help me across the street.... yet.
