Seriously though, he shouldn't. Chanderpaul has been in far better form, and it's been sustained form for a lengthy period of time. There are very few better batsmen in world cricket at the moment.

Well Chanderpaul is already there and we need more candiates!

Clarkes got his average from 44 to 47 this year too with 2 hundreds and a fifty

Matthew Hayden for test player.

Has made a century in every test match his played so far this year.

1. Test Bowler of the year - Lee, easily. Great year for him.

2. Test Batsman of the year - Shiv's already in, so...Kallis I guess. Leading runscorer since the T20 WC according to cricinfo...

3. All-round Player of the year - Tough. Not many real standouts. I'd like to say Warne for the IPL, but for someone who has done well in all 3 formats...I guess McCullum. Lethal in T20, great stuff in tests, and going well in the current ODIs.

4. T20 Player of the year - Resisting the urge to say Warne, I go for Tanvir. Good WC, great IPL. Excellent allround.

5. County Bowler of the year - Had to do some digging, but once I saw Ottis Gibson's name, I knew it had to be him. Such a great season, it got him the job as bowling coach of England! 10-fer in a single innings in an FC game, second behind Mushtaq Ahmed in wickets tally, and at his age...brilliant.

6. County Batsman of the year - Ramprakash, easily.

7. Young player of the year (-22) - Ishant Sharma.

8. Team of the year - Hate to say it, but India. Even though the IPL was a commercialism fest and India have played so much cricket it is enough to make you sick, they still have been an excellent side and the IPL was huge fun. A great year for Indian cricket.
