Planetcricket IC10 Q&A thread discussion

The more i read and here the more im thinking how bad this new release is gonna be, is basically a patched version of ac09 really what we wanted or what we should of expected.
I just new it was gonna be a quick fix game with no real big changes, o well we'll all get it regardless.

Judging by this:

Q13. International Cricket 2010 has left out a PC version, is Codemasters still committed to PC gaming and plan for a return in future releases? If so, does this just mean you are working on making a game that?s not just a simple port of the console version and hence taking more time? Or has piracy and low sales resulted in PC releases just not being commercially viable? If so, how much do I have to pay you to get a finished PC patch for AC09 with online re-enabled?

John ? The decision was made on IC2010 to go with PS3 and 360.

As you?ve indicated in the question, issues of commercial viability such as piracy and sales figures are obviously a big factor, although that?s as much as we can say on that.

Codemasters cricket games have come to an end on PC. :crying

The scenario is only going to improve if more people start buying Cricket games. Games that sell less than a million copies not considered worthy of a franchise these days.

The game doesn't appear to be a massive improvement on AC09, but at least they are making an effort and seeking advice from the gaming community. They deserve more support than EA ever did.

I think you've summed it up in the second part there. I've defended Codies and Transmission for their engagement with the community and will continue to do so until I'm blue in the face.
EA took (and still take) a very arrogant view towards the online community and we should be greatful that Codies are prepared to do Q&As, read the forums etc.
Personally I would rather we didn't set the bar too high for this release and were pleasantly surprised.
I do think some people are in danger of taking things too seriously though. This isn't a government conspirary or cover-up and talk about broken promises and lying are way overblown.

You mean Codemasters weren't behind 9/11?

I didn't know they were behind 9/11. I only thought they were the ones who created the AIDS virus to punish immoral infidels

There's no accusations of lying, as what happened with Jamie Firth. They seem to have a crew there that are on the level this time, and yes, any interaction with the gaming community is appreciated. (Having said that, I'm sure Firth is lurking in the shadows somewhere.)

The criticism stems from omission of stats tracking and proper online fixes, which would make the game so much deeper. Anyway, I'm treating IC10 as a superficial revision of AC09.

Already looking towards IC11 for anything more.

I can't believe how many people on this forum are slagging codies and trickstar games. I'm just chuffed to bits we are getting a cricket game this year, I didn't think we'd get another one for years.

I liked AC09, yes it had many bugs and they did rush it, but if this game sorts out those bugs and improves in other ways, (tournements, online, etc) then I for one can't wait.

Please codies keep releasing every year and we can have as good a cricket series as we have a football series in FIFA.

As consumers, we have a right to criticize. We spend our hard earned money (well, I sponge for now :p) on what they give us. They aren't giving it to us for free or even for a cheap price so whether or not they are the only guys making a cricket game is irrelevant. I would agree that it's all a bit premature at the moment but everyone's allowed a little skepticism. It's Codemasters'/Trickstar's job to prove us wrong.

Sounds good. Although every time I read something I like, I remember that I don't have a PS3/Xbox!

Expanded tournaments sound good, and also the option to turn off the pitch marker.

Mate its time for you to get one. Trust me you will be glad. Come to the dark side!:yes

I am not saying that PC is not better than xbox etc, but its lot more simpler having a console to play games. And now our beloved cricket game is on console as well.

Also if IC10 is a commercial success then there is even less incentive to release any future titles on PC.

PC sports gaming is deffo dying. Madden don't even bother with PC and from what Ive heard FIFA releases sub par versions compared to console.

I too prefer console gaming, and I always have. I've got about 4/5 consoles around the house, just not any new ones! Have to start saving up....

biggest problem with cricket console gaming is it cannot be modded for gameplay or kits and even if the company releases a fully licensed(that is also very less unlikely) game then also in some months the kits will change and you will not get realistic presentation and also a company till now has not been able to give good gameplay so it also cannot be modded

Meh, I never understood the obsession with kits. Im after the gameplay, they can wear clown costumes for all I care.

The solution there is decent customisation, not PC only. It is very possible to make a game on a console with editing just as good as on a PC.

I keep pointing to NCAA football here, you go online, to this page and you can create a team, kit, logo and roster all with a web interface. This can then be downloaded in game by anyone.

There'd also be nothing stopping custom AI being made in that way. Transmission were able to edit the AI of the game while a game was going, so they could fine tune changes. Make a simplified subset of those AI things and some basic scripting, and you could do like wise. Downloadable custom difficulty levels, how fantastic would that be?

If the time and effort is put in, you can edit just about everything on a console that you can on a PC game, especially now the consoles are all online.
