Not as yet.

I've found it to be unnecessary, however - bowling points are much easier to get than batting ones.

Just to add to this question, I've recently changed Pakistan's playing XI (the team I am playing for in my career) along with their ODI kits. However the changes have not taken place in the career mode. Is there any way to make that change as I do not want to restart my entire career.

Has anyone worked out if we can refuse to play for team and say just be a limited overs specialist in career mode.

No, I don't believe that you can. Which is a good thing: since refusing to play the best form of cricket is a very dumb thing to do!!

Just forfeit every match you don't want to play - it has no impact on you or your selection chances.

Once you make it internationally your domestic teams will just simulate some of the matches involving you - it's an incentive for them to support your career.
