Post your questions about the game here!

Ross, I'm sorry to mention your competitors. :p
But on IC2010 when editing players skills. They had a points system you had to fill fill various bars with depending on how skilled you wanted the player. Will your game have this too? Or something similar?
I ask this as my main problem with it was I didn't like being tied down and told how good I could have a player. It was really hard to make a good quality all rounder. And on the flip side it was hard to make an excellent batsman who didn't bowl without making him "superman" in the field.
If that made sense!

It's a really big gameplay balancing issue.

As much as I don't like imposing limits on players, I think there has to be an "RPG" approach with an amount of skill points that you spread otherwise people will just create a team of perfect all-rounders. Our thoughts are that it doesn't matter so much with local games but for online/ranked matches we must have a balance.

If you have suggestions on how to get around this issue then I'd be glad to hear them.

We're watching the developments closely and will make sure all is up to date :)

Hi Ross how was your weekend:D

Ok about balance, for career or a create player modes
then best to start on say 50 out of 100 and do training and
playing games make your points go up or down on form of the player.

For online i agree because people will cheat;)

Also say you play on easy(school grade) then it's easy to get more points.
On normal(State) points are normal and on hard(international) points are
slow and it can take seasons to get near say 80 plus out of 100.

Also how many difficulty levels are you guys doing, normal 3 or ea sports 5
if i remember right.:D

Fair enough about the online balancing issues. How about being able to filter games depending on how many points the starting XI have? Then you can choose if you want to vs a dream team or something more realistic? Your ranking could be adjusted depending on how much better (or worse) the other team is compared to yours?

surely it makes more sense that the harder the level you play the more points you get.

I was thinking about that but i don't think either work right.

It's a hard one to get right, like how many points is right.
Maybe for career there is no difficulty level, the game level
up with you like say borderlands 1 and 2.

So when you start state it's hard but when you get to the right
level the game says something like your level is high enough to
try test cricket, also put difficulty slides in like others have said.
But not to make the ball faster, more like the real thing.
Bowlers bowling the right line more or batsmen putting bad
balls away more if the slider is high.
Also options for a turn off and on for injuries, form, and others.

Please if others have there ideas i would love to read them.
Also ross what do you think, please put your insight.:spy

How about online team progression? For eg if your player scores a century against a high ranked opponent than he will get skill points (Like if he score more on the offside he will get more offside attributes if he scores more against pace bowlers his VS PACE BOWLING skill will increase , just like Elder scrolls games) and when the player reaches 100 online matches he have to retire and you have to select new players for your online team , It would be like online career mode. I can surely put some more thoughts in to it to make it more viable but Ross tell me is it possible to do something like that so that I can start putting my head in to it and give you my best possible idea:D

This would be amazing, would love an FUT style online mode.

Yeah that could be really good! Maybe instead of having to retire the player after 100 games the players are assigned a hidden ranking as to when they will hit their peak (I'm thinking like in PES master league). When players go past this point and begin to decline you would have to manage which points to take off them? New players would have a randomly generated peak; some players might peak early, while others late and then the declines might be gradual or rapid.

Epic! this has to be in the game. But I didnt like the idea of having an ability to choose which points to take off , I think that should be random and not user controlled as in real life player doesn't have that control :)

will there be some domestic teams and leagues in the game or only international teams. only international teams can get a bit boring sometimes.

Yeah I agree with you. One thing I would like to know is; what sort of attributes will be in the game? Is it going to be more like Fifa with lots of specific stuff such as running speed, reflexes, short bowling ability, accuracy, stamina etc, or more like AC2010 with just batting bowling and fielding. Thoughts Chief?

Hey Ross.

Been reading about your upcoming game for the last week or so, and I'm very excited, this could be the game we've all been waiting for.
Not sure how far along you are in the gameplay programming but were wondering if you could consider this thought.
For a long time I have thought that cricket games of the past were quite dull and boring because the Bowling pitch cursor appears way before the bowler releases the ball, giving you plenty of time to decide what shot to play. But thats nothing like real cricket where you have fractions of a second to decide.

I have done some trials by having the cricket strip on my tv covered up by a friend and having him remove it when the ball is about to be bowled, batting is so much more instinctive and fun. Then crucially if us the players could then minutely adjust the timing when the bowling cursor appears in the game settings then we could set our own difficulties, a window of say 3 seconds either side of the bowlers release sounds about right.

The same concept could apply to two player, where the bowler can change the bowling cursor right up until delivery, which has been implemented in a couple of previous games and I think worked very well. I managed to deceive a few people with that tactic and it was a great addition to 2 player.

Please let me know your thoughts, and keep up good work.

Agreed :) - as mentioned somewhere in here, I hate HUD elements and camera switching - a hallmark of our games is limited HUD during live gameplay and very few camera switches, this will be the same for Cricket, you will not bowl by selecting a destination (that's all I can say for now :) ).

Do we know if we would be able to save online matches? It would be ideal to have an auto save feature where the match gets auto saved after a fixed number of overs, because sometimes there are disconnections due to network issues, without a save feature it would be very difficult to get complete games, even small matches. So this really is essential.
