Post your questions about the game here!

Agreed :) - as mentioned somewhere in here, I hate HUD elements and camera switching - a hallmark of our games is limited HUD during live gameplay and very few camera switches, this will be the same for Cricket, you will not bowl by selecting a destination (that's all I can say for now :) ).

I thought you had already revealed a little more about bowling, Ross?

Yeah, you're going to get a very different game, for example the bowling is timed on when you release the ball, it works well, requires a great degree of skill and is a lot of fun.

At this point we've made the hud minimal accross the board as a design, it isn't something that you can turn off and on.

Wel spotted but I think I was saying the same thing in a different way :)

If you don't bowl by picking a destination then I would think you must do it at the origin.

Oh yeah, sorry, don't know how I missed that post.
Bowling does sound very interesting, Can't imagine how you can bowl without setting a destination but I trust you on this Ross, something new does need to be tried. All very mysterious and exciting.:thumbs

In my opinion the dominant features of any delivery happen prior to and at release of the ball. To mark the pitch with icons and set it up at the other end of the pitch is doing the maze backwards and I can see that it is a great simplification of Cricket for video games but isnt very realistic (and it tells the batter way too much in advance!).

Love it! I hope this game will make us feel like we are playing Cricket for real and not in a video game :)

Real Match Advice

How about this. Suppose an amateur or any player for the matter is playing a game in a career mode then he'll be having some cricketing great as a mentor :) for a bowler maybe a Warne and for a batsman maybe a Tendulkar or any generic cricketer you create. Then before & after matches he may advice which players to rest, how the pitch acts, which player to choose, and during the match , he may suggest it's a good time to step up the run rate,or maybe call a night watchman , take the power play :thumbs Ofcourse seasoned players may turn off this option, but just a thought:yes

Very true Ross

It sounds great, how hard is it to get good balls in your game.
This has not been done in a cricket game before so i look forward
to a new challange, if you can say will batting be like before or something
new like the bowling. p.s Less than a week for aus cricket season guys.:D

Challenging bowling is great to have!!
one question still not asked-
will it be available on ps2??
if its , it will be gr8 sir,as a lot of fans here in india have a ps2:)
and how about giving hint to minimum system requirements for pc!!

I wish we could target the Playstation2 as I know there is a very big install base in India but we would probably put effort into Android/iOS versions before the Playstation2.

If you have suggestions on how to get around this issue then I'd be glad to hear them.
Well is there a way to implement the stats/edited details reverting back to default for online games?
Or perhaps just the stats? This might sound picky, but I hated having to play as R.Drabu on ac09 and ic2010. It would be great if the names we edited stayed the same, but the stats just went back to default.
Think that's about the only way to get around this problem.

Ross, I'm sorry if this has already been answered but if it has I can't find it on here! But will we be able to create our own custom tours? I like to be able to set up 3 tests, 3 odi's and 1 t20 or something. Can we do this? And if we can, will injuries play a part in the tour? Or are injuries reserved for career mode? Many thanks.

This is also a question I was very keen to get an answer to. ;)

Simplest way to overcome stacking of points - set a hidden (partially random) value past which excess stats are a negative point, which is logical - that additional training to be nominally 'good' at that would place high strain on the player.

Perhaps it could materialise in a high error rate - so an extremely high rated batsman would have a higher chance of failing early in the innings; or a bowler might come steaming in and bowl a 157km/h wide for four.

If high stats come with enough of a risk, but one that someone could tactically choose to play using, it could be a good thing to allow people to load up superhuman stats.

It's a really big gameplay balancing issue.

As much as I don't like imposing limits on players, I think there has to be an "RPG" approach with an amount of skill points that you spread otherwise people will just create a team of perfect all-rounders. Our thoughts are that it doesn't matter so much with local games but for online/ranked matches we must have a balance.

If you have suggestions on how to get around this issue then I'd be glad to hear them.

Hi Ross.
I've got an idea on this issue. I think all of us would like to have freedom to do what we like with player stats offline.

But to make it fair playing online how about each online team having 18 players whose stats are the same as the other online teams and we cannot change them, but allow us to change the names and appearance.
The eighteen players can be split up as follows and have stats relative to there role:

3 regular batsmen
2 big hitters
2 wicketkeepers (1 batting wk and 1 more specialist wk)
2 Fast bowlers
2 Fast/Medium bowlers
3 Spinners (2 offys, 1 leggy)
4 All rounders (2 more batting and 2 more bowling)

This will give you virtually any combination for a cricket team and you are unlikely to have both teams playing online with the same combination of players.

Then we can edit names, appearances and maybe bowling animations to these players and choose the starting 11 when playing online.

This way we can also pick a team to suit our playing style. If a player decides to overload on batting he will obviously suffer in the bowling department and vice versa.

This way we can all create and play with the team and players we want to, but are not able edit stats to make superhuman players.

Hope this makes sense.

Just thought of a problem and solution to my previous post.

It would be unrealistic to create for example Shane Warne and him have relatively modest leg spinner stats.

So how about one batting and one bowling power-up to assign to whichever of the 18 players you want.

So you could assign the batting power up to the wicketkeeper and have a realistic Dhoni, or assign it to a big hitter and have a Chris Gayle.

That way each team has a couple of star players.

By the way, the first team I would create would be an England XI from players I have seen play in my lifetime.

3 regular batsmen ( Gooch, Strauss, Vaughan)
2 Big Hitters (Pietersen' Batting power-up' , Hick)
2 Wicketkeepers (Stewart, Russell)
2 Fast Bowlers (Gough, Broad)
2 Fast/Medium Bowlers (Anderson, Caddick)
3 spinners (Swann, Giles, Rashid:lol)
4 all rounders (Flintoff 'Bowling Power-up, White, Botham, Collingwood)

What a team I could make, no jokes please.
