Post your questions about the game here!

I had the real game in the 80s there wasn't much fun in blocking!!! The fun was hitting the ball so hard that the fielders flew all over the place, it was 20/20 cricket for cavemen!!!!

I think the game is going to be very similar in nature to test match cricket. I wanted the gameplay to be a bit more like the real thing. We will see how it is and take it from there. Hopefully there will be more editions in the series :)

I was at the Scotland-Australia game earlier this year; they lost to Australia by 200 runs... Better than England then!

i'd rather kill off ODI, and have more tests and a few T20s

there is nothing more boring than an ODI

I for one find ODIs entertaining. Test cricket has and will always be the pinnacle, and definitely the most entertaining. However an ODI has so many ups and down throughout. You can never guess what you're going to see. They leave enough time to manufacture an innings, or a bowling performance. T20 is predictable, the bowlers are gonna bowl all over the place and the batsmen are going to swing no matter what. I still enjoy T20s though.

The Australian summer is so good for cricket. It begins with the Ryobi Cup in October. This allows you to morph into cricket mode after the rugby/AFL/whatever season. Then you got the Sheffield Shield (though this is not on TV which is an outrage). The pinnacle of the season begins, with the Tests beginning in my hometown. Then, as the tests continue, around mid-December, the BBL begins. With at least four games a week, I get my T20 fix. Then the always enjoyable ODIs begin. Then the summer finishes with the Shield Final. Alright, I guess I'm just a complete cricket nut :)

This guy gets it.

ODI's give a team a chance to recover from a collapse to turn around and make a decent game of it. If you're 3/30 in a Twenty20, it is going to be hard to make a score, but in ODI's you've got the chance to knuckle down and try and work your way out of it. Plus, I find teams pulling off great run chases more entertaining in ODI's rather than Twenty20.

Hi Ross,

Will there be a story line in the career mode? With/without cut-scenes or even by plain text? Where in the player has to make certain decisions?
I'm pretty sure there isn't. You play games to improve and I don't think there is any sponsorship. I think the career mode is centred on playing rather than anything else and that is how you rise up the leaderboard.

Might not be a bad idea for a future iteration.

ODI's are also the only way Scotland will be able to pretend that they're any good.

Oh I miss the days of Howzat...learnt to score by playing that game! As for exciting video games...well they made Dungeons and Dragons into a video game so surely it should be possible to do it to Howzat!

there's a game out now called Lords of Cricket...very similar...but the one from yesteryear had a classic card 'ave a go yer mug'

although i just realised ur talking about tabletop cricket as opposed to card cricket

20/20 reminds me of playing beach cricket in France once when I was a kid. We'd invited a French guy along and he'd never even heard of cricket, so we tried to explain the basic rules to him, thinking we'd have to go easy on him, and I think in the end he equated it to some form of baseball. Anyway, we couldn't get him out, haha! I just went for the "slog everything" approach and I think he was in the 90s before someone finally caught him! He'd never played or even heard of it before so it was a bit humiliating, haha! :lol

How exactly do Scotland have a claim on being good at ODIs? They just finished fifth in the WCL which effectively makes them the 15th best ODI nation in the world, as compared with their third place finish in the I-Cup which puts them at 13th in First Class cricket.

Are you just saying ODI WC qualification is all they have to play for next year after missing World T20 qualification and missing the I-Cup final or something?

Scotland have more chance at getting to an ODI world cup rather than the t20 world cup. I also personally think that t20's show how big the gap is between associates and full members. Teams usually get about 110 as they don't have big hitters and look pretty poor with the ball, whereas in ODI's 230 isn't too bad and medium paces are effective. I can only think of two T20 surprises, Netherlands vs England and Zimbabwe vs Australia.

I'm not saying Scotland are good at ODI's. Just that they and other associates look better at it than t20's.

I look better in a dress than a mankini, doesn't mean I look good in either.
